However, what's so dramatic and beautiful is he's still doing what is right to him by trying to kill them both by falling in the ocean It's his ultimate move to make things right, we know he can't live with Hannibal but at the same he can't live without him, so he decides to kill themselves both... And Hannibal doesn't resist because he finally had what he wanted the most, his freedom, Will the only one who can understands him I cant tell if at first, Will already have a part of himself that tolerates but he surely forgives Hannibal later (don't know to which extend tho...) How strong love is between those two individuals but how much destruction it causes as well! All this manipulation! The show really is well played and well written

I'm not so sure it has as much to do with turning Will into Hannibal as it does with enabling Will's latent homicidal instincts. He wants Will to embrace who he is and, of course, he wants Will to be his friend. He sees friendship in Will because Will has the ability to see him, relate to him, think differently from everyone else just like Hannibal. Because of that he views Will as his equal.

I am empathic but damaged, terrified. See Will and see myself in him. My father though... like Hannibal but less sophisticated (I think most real humans would be). But.. I envy Hannibal sometimes. I wish I could have that disconnect when I am in pain. Pain sucks. I have a fascination watching these two interact. Where most see a prelude to coitus... I see... outliers on the extreme ends of the empathy spectrum, misunderstood by those "in the middle" of the empathic bell curve, forming a bond (however dysfunctional) through shared alienation. They both envy aspects of the other's personality, precisely because they are disconnected and alone, both trying to regulate for balance. Some would dismiss this, especially on Hannibal's part.. but Hannibal risks capture to engage with Will. He NEEDS something Will has in his personality, just like Will (however put-off, however horrified) craves freedom from night terrors, empathy, panic... some part of him craves Hannibal's disconnect. It's like Will runs "hot" with empathy, Hannibal too cold... but together they are trying to balance their temperatures.
