With the floor all cut out this would be a good time to measure the transmission tunnle to make sure it will fit your 4L60E. Something tells me you will need to enlarge the trans tunnel.
@dougj.8288 Жыл бұрын
From the look of it he’s gonna be building a new floor anyway, might as well build a new tunnel.

@njmvermont Жыл бұрын
I mentioned it on the engine video but Since the intake intakes upward, you may experience some fuel/oil pooling in the intake runners when it sits shut off. It might be a good idea to add some type of threaded plugs in the runners now so u can drain it if it floods without taking off the whole intake or having to jam some hose down there and suck it out. You'll thank yourself later
@craiglaing2417 Жыл бұрын
Bit of Datsun info for you. The automatic version of the Datsun 510’s have a slightly bigger transmission tunnel. They are sought after for doing engine swaps.

Love that you’re posting more often, keep it up man! And a tip I learned was use non clumping litter and it won’t stick to the concrete as much
@MrGixxer1300r Жыл бұрын
Yep I used to get the cheapest biggest bag of non clumping kitty litter Walmart had, and it always worked great.

I bought a pallet of oil dry 7-8yrs ago, just stacked the last 6 bags in the corner last week and took the pallet out. Oil dry or pig mats should be one of the first tools in a shop along with a drain pan lol, i picked up a universal tailshaft plug kit off ebay a while back also that i still use even though i drain engine/trans of fluids before removing them

A lot of other KZbinrs have been saying the same thing about their camera's, it's hard to believe someone hasn't came up with a camera holder that has a cooling fan on/in it, I can't believe you're actually going to fix that thing, lol, but if anyone can, 😉👍, you must be part plow-horse to move a car around like that, good-thing you have that "chicken-hay" around to eat, lol, awesome video, and thanks for sharing.

The cheapest, dustiest grey kitty litter . Odor suppression type enhancements make it LESS effective. “Oil dry” is that if you can find it but most supermarkets have cheap store-brand litter that works great.

Buddy you need a set of oxy acy torch's to cut metal and heat bolts so they come out like butter and come out. I myself could not do the work I do in my garage without torch's! The best investment I ever made as I use it for everything fabrication wise! Another thing that I think is very important is compressed air to blow blind holes out or dirt off an intake or out of the car with a long blower handle, compressed air gets the job done. Then for the fab part a MIG welder can do everything ya need welding wise and what ya can't do with that you can do with the torch's and a metal coat hanger, at least welding sheet metal together for cheap. Impact's are your friend also, help's ya be faster, Defiantly get 1/2" cordless impact, Craftsman 20V has a new brushless one that is awesome! Like the project, keep the content to the main point's and don't clutter it up with to much of one process, record the main points for taking the motor out but spare us the whole procedure and point out changes, problems, and solutions!

I can't wait to see you get the boat motor in there. I've heard that with just a puff of supercharging 2 strokes really come alive. It would be interesting to see if you could figure that out too.
@richardmanchester114 Жыл бұрын
Why don't you use the cutting wheel on your angle grinder to cut the sheet metal instead of the router tool? Just wondering, but awesome videos and can't wait to see this build threw till the end.
@crazy8offroad Жыл бұрын
you should run square tubing all the way down each subframe and stitch weld them in after you clean and convert the rust so you never have to do it again and you can always add a cage if you add more power

might be nice to get a beadroller they help you making the strengthening ribs in the sheetmetal for the floors and stuff if you have a pond clode by you could install a sprinkler system on top of the roof being fed by a submersible pump in the pond , the water evaporating from the roof helps a little to cool the roof down and hopefully make the temperature inside the shop a little more bearable , pumping the pond water through a large truck radiator with a huge fan behind it can help lower the air inside he shop

That column shift automatic, didnt know Datsun had them in the 510 after 1969. Please dont break the column shift stuff, its pretty rare. I dont think the thin sheetmetal was because they wanted it to be disposable, otherwise the powertrains wouldn't have been built so well. The fact that so many are still around is testament to the good build quality. Nope IMHO it was simply to reduce weight and waste. Rust protection wasnt a priority because Japan didnt salt thier roads back then. In areas (such as Oregon) where road salt wasnt used, many of these Datsuns were still daily drivers up to about 5-10 years ago. Imagibe if they didn't rust, the Datsuns would last nearly forever.... Honestly if u had a cylinder head you could probably get that stupid L16 to run 😂😂😂 thats how tough old Nissans are

Ye the old joke was They rusting on the boat comming over..🤣 And it was true. In the customizing days to Beef up the chassie we would weld angle iron to the chassie rails. All the way. Then bolt through the floor on to welded square plates. Or you going to twist that car up like a pretzel .
@DanDoge-wp7uj Жыл бұрын
You need ladder bars welding to axle on solid plates. And your spring hangers completely beefing up..or you going to tramp that axle off the body..it's all in the preparations. Maybe even put a x brace some where in there. Inside car..up and over tunnel.. it's a great build. Good luck. Safety first..
