Rocio,I’m don’t know if your familiar with paint primer,which is used on walls prior to painting,it covers imperfections, also you should use drop cloths on floors while painting,saves a lot of extra work on clean ups. As for your dad, he’s great, love his energy, let him do what he wants with his yard in his own time.✌️

When my father passed on, that was the first thing was been taken out from our home, my father has lot of old cars in the yard. Others were sold to the mechanics. You are right Ro. Many hoarders have trauma. Could be childhood trauma, could be loss of a child , spouse or parent, could be many reasons. It's a psychological issue. It's a slow process. Little by little. But it's not just an elderly issue, it can happen to anyone at any age. Hoarding is a solution to trauma for your parents. Sorry you are going through this. Some professional councilling help would benefit your parents in the long term.

So sad seeing Mr. Luis displaying serious emotional attachment to stuff. It is well with him and he will surely enjoy the change with time. I have learnt a big lesson through this. Whenever I see elderly people with emotional attachment to anything that is regarded as thrash or not useful again, I will engage, engage and engage till that attachment is gone and I will allow him/her to dispose it himself/herself. This is a lesson I have learnt on how not to handle elderly people. In anyway, well done Rocio, the goal has been achieved and I'm sure your parents will heal and recover with time. Ro and Marwa, you should buy a modern toilet bowl, and use the old one brought by your dad for a toilet within the yard. The plumber made a very big unprofessional mistake. He ought to have gauged with his eyes that the water pipe passes along that line. You can still make it.
