Highland Park Ave S from West Marginal is supposed to be one of the steepest sustained climbs in the Seattle area.

Random comment here but I recently started biking, first time in about 10 years coming from nyc. First time doing it in Seattle and I'm hooked. It's such a blast, a lot of the infrastructure is solid and improvements are coming! Plus just being out and active in this beautiful region makes it even better. Your videos are both entertaining and informative!

I think the max on that is 18% IIRC? Still one of the hardest ascents in Seattle for sure. I never make it up without slowing way down towards the top.

I don't train on hills much but there is one here in Eugene, Oregon called Green Hill Rd. which is close to my house and I attempted it once on my trainer bike and an almost straight block, just couldn't do it. But now it's a gotta try again with a 13-34 cluster. Not sure how it'll go but watching you in Seattle challenges me to sumit our hill here. Thank you for the model hill climb.

I'm from Lucerne (Switzerland) and we got some very steep hills. I haven't approached them with my (very new) brompton. I wish I enjoyed hills as much as you do... :-)

I'm not from Seattle, but some of the streets in my suburban neighborhood in Vancouver WA are nearly as steep as some of these steep Seattle hills. Seeing how challenging these hills are makes me feel less bad for frequently preferring my ebike 😄

I'm not sure how it compares to Roy, but S. Irving St. between 35th and Lake WA Blvd S. (next to the E. Portal lookout over the I-90 bridge, on the Seattle side) is pretty steep though it's also a small block. It's the same block that you access the I-90 trail on. The climb up Irving from 35th to 32nd, then left on 32nd is a pretty good leg burner and puts you within a block of the Mt. Baker Ridge Viewpoint, a great place to catch sunset views west towards Elliott Bay, downtown, the Pac Med Bldg (former Amazon HQ), etc.
