Will It Run 12s? Driveway Built Iron Head SBC. Drag Racing At The Bend

The HQ Is a driveway built car built on a shoestring budget over the past two years or so. I get to do something I have wanted to do for most of my life for the first time, go drag racing. Now with Australia's newest drag way ‪@TheBendMotorsportPark‬ I can. Our night went fairly smooth only with the failure of 3rd gear with the t400. But still managed to drive it to the strip and back.

Well done Joe she is an absolute Credit to you mate.The old girl traveled nice and straight but better still your engine work is now tried and proven. She did a 12 no sweat at all, and did a stout burn out plus a consistent 60 footer. Mate i would be pretty bloody pleased with those results, I wish i could get to south Aussie mate and have you build an Engine for me. I take my hat of to you Joe you know you're shit. Gd seeing a young fella doing the cast iron carbed thing instead of the same old ls or ls turbo ,hats off to ya is much more rewarding when u do it all yaself and its not easy

Good stuff on the 12. I like the Ute similar style to mine. Give the hero’s or psr tyres a go, roughly $300ea, both pretty much the same tyre different brand, very sticky tyre for the money especially on the street (will pick up every stone on the road)

I have a mate with a gravel driveway with hero's. sure does pick up every stone. The plan is to go to one or the other.

Very simple and straight forward. Was plenty people at the track to ask how things worked on the day.

Well done for the first time down the strip for both you and the Ute. You going to go to roller tip of full roller rockers at all? Should try a Powerglide...only 2 go fast and go faster gears to worry about.

I like the 400. I haven't really given it a good chance ether leaving it completely stock. Off the line with a 1.76 first gear of a power glide may make the car a slug with 3.3 gears.

@@Joedennett69 Could be right. I used to have an HG Ute running a mild 308 with a Powerglide and 3.9 rear. Best I ever got with that was 12.2 at 108mph.
