Picked this up over the weekend. Couldn't resist, but it definitely needs some work.

Needs a lot more routine maintenance. Definitely the timing belt as insurance.

Fyi you should never have to touch the gas on fuel injected vehicles while starting, some will actually put the car in fuel cut off if the pedal is fully pressed. I'm sure you probably already knew that but maybe not.

This was my first car, 1999 white civic 2 door ex. Loved it. Florida car with 160k miles on it. Burned a crap ton of oil and head gasket was blown. Kept water jugs and oil in the trunk, but it got me all around Florida. Paid $1200 for it at age 18, I’m 24 now. Miss that car tons.

I just bought a civic just like yours at Copart. It's on my channel, and I agree, it's a vehicle I don't need. I changed the wires and plugs and it fixed my misfire. I previously bought an auction 98 civic 8 years ago that had a bad head gasket, but I had more localized cylinder misfire codes.
@SkylineFTW972 жыл бұрын
Had an 03 that had a bad head gasket (common problem on the D17s). Never misfired, but it had an intermittent overheating issue that would always pop up if I parked it on an incline.

Maybe the timing is out of place and maybe the feul injectors aren't injecting, also try checking the compression
@SkylineFTW972 жыл бұрын
It already runs fine. Hondas are very sensitive to timing being off, if it's out by even a single tooth, it'll throw codes. I already checked all the injectors. They might have varnish buildup, but they all click just fine. And if compression is low, it's evenly low. There's no abnormal exhaust pulses or sounds when cranking. If one cylinder is low, you'll hear it.
