I owned one of theses back in the day. I bought her in 1980 at 2 years old. 4 inch suspension lift and a 3 in body lift on 35's. Smitty built bumpers and roll bar. A dozen KC off road lights and a warn 8000 lbs winch. Ran that old girl for 10 years before I sold it. Man I wish I still had that old truck.

Recently ran across your videos. I enjoy seeing vehicles start back up after being left for dead. Will you ever do follow ups on some of them?? Like this 78, would love to see all 4 of those super swampers slingN mud again. Or update on your Resto Blue Chevy? Are these vehicle just sold for a quick profit after they come back to life, which is totally understandable just extremely curious on most of these vehicles. Ty great work on content👍

No knocking ! She sounded pretty good Mr. Jennings! I was really surprised when you got it started. I figured their would be ticking for a few minutes, or some knocking but it sounded smooooth! Ran better than my 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4L!! Mine is about to fling a timing chain up to the space station if I'm not careful with her! Got to keep her under 2500 rpm.

I'm a confirmed Ford man but I've owned a couple of these old square bodies and the biggest flaw in them is that crazy hood design. The guy that engineered the thing must have really had a b-a-d hangover that day. To put a dimple underneath that was always causing the hood to bend if the hinges weren't all but floating in lubricant wasn't GM's brightest idea. Otherwise they were like tanks!

You should fix this one up. It doesn't need to be made pretty; just replace or patch the rocker panels and floorboards and anything else it needs to be made solid and roadworthy. The _true_ "square body" (1973-1980) GM pickups are awesome, especially the short-bed ones like yours, and especially 4WD ones like yours, and especially with a V8 like yours, and especially with 35" Super Swamper tires like yours. Only two things would make it better IMO: a standard transmission instead of an automatic (e.g., a Muncie SM465) and a big block engine (e.g., 454).
