Looks like a very sophisticated engine for its day. Overhead valves, cross flow head, aluminum, distributor and coil ignition, electric starter. Looks like the exhaust manifold runs through the carb, which is interesting, must have helped with vaporization?

Back in those days 30 or 50 thousand miles cars ot trucks were worn out.i had it explained to me this way the lead added to gasoline would get into the oil and form very hard carbon crystals thus pumping all thru the engine acting like sand getting the rings and bearings.

You know, usually one part of those arms / arm on the steering wheel is a spark advance control. Maybe that control is a pull it up and set the spark and push it down and set the gas. Don't know for sure but it's worth looking at. Sounds like the spark isn't advancing for above idling run. Model A Fords are a good example. 😊

Do you end up fully restoring these old cars or do you just get it in running condition? I'm genuinely curious what you do with these cars after the video

the radiator losing cooling water cannot be a problem. Lot of Laurel and Hardy movies proove, that a T model can run during losing coolant

How much i'd like to have one of these ancient cars and see how much i can modernize the engine. Steel sleeves, modern forged crankshaft, rods and pistons, custom intake and exhaust manifolds, retrofitted modern clutch with normal pedals and other stuff, like coilovers, new gears and shafts for the gearbox, etc., like, max N/A mods and reliability mods. And another identical one, but with low compression pistons and forced induction.

The altermarket heater... What was the brand of that? My grandad had a 1940 Ford truck. Your motor ran almost as good as yours did. My transmission shop used some lightning oil, that cured all the whine, and syncro could almost worked. I can't remember of that oil stuff.

There is fuel additive that are meant to take water out of gas or diesel, perhaps it would help when cleaning out a old engine with diesel as you tend to do. Hope it can make your revivals a little easier.

Engine Bottom-End sounds so sweet. Would love to see it running on six, and driving. It would make a great Truck to take to Shows. Some things that you bring back to life are terminal, but this Truck ain't! Good to see you work on some of the USA s Finest. Greetings from Australia.
