Only the VW comes close, and honestly thats more about watching a father and his daughter share a project they both love. This Pinto has the goods. It's even a good looking car, the lines of the pinto were always ready for the muscle car treatment, and with that huge scoop balancing those meaty tires (sorry, casings, lol) it looks right out of a hot wheels box. Please give us a bunch more of this car, it's a diamond in need of recutting and you guys are the perfect people to do it. And then take it racing....I'm betting one of the kids might be ready and remember the smaller your driver the more HP goes to the car instead of the driver

This brings back memories, I bought a 1974 Vega wagon. I pulled the original 4 cylinder engine out (blown). Transplanted a 350 CI ran it down the strip a few times. During high school and after graduation those 60’s & 70’s cars were affordable $500 to $1,200 so you can imagine I went through my share of cars, all running. Seeing your cars brings back memories, thank you for great content and being a great father with your kids. Tosh showed how to get it done, great purchase and addition to the family.

I helped my dad with his old Valiant one winter up north, we had to put a cut down barbecue grill under oil pan as it was -30. Pinto in my opinion got a bad wrap, they were decent cars that got good gas mileage.

Hi, I just found your channel now mind you i am pretty stuck on the shows i watch but i think your show is great, I love the fact that you include your family. All my kids are all grown and moved out on there own. I get very lonely and think back at the things i should have done with my kids. Watching you and your family puts a smile on my face. Awesome job getting the Pinto going!! 👍 I've built a build like that one but I moved the drive train back so that the radiator support didn't have to be cut and the front grill and bumper could be reinstalled. We built a tube frame for the engine to sit in. I must agree the build on this Pinto is sketchy and that be nice about it. I'm amazed it wasn't a fire sale car with that great wiring.. I would be scared to take it down a race track... God forbid something lets go and it ran into something... Once again be proud of your family for such williness to help and provide such support. That Mabel really loves you... Hey don't forget you owe the Galaxie a distrbutor and don't buy the cheapest one on eBay.... been there done that one too... LOL😂 God Bless!!

I'd check and make sure you have two massive battery cables coming directly to the front from that rear mounted battery (or get a gear reduction starter). Ford starters typically draw a lot of current, even on a stock engine. That said, it would be a great idea to make a tube frame for it, complete with roll cage, and move the whole engine back another 12" or so, like you mentioned. It's just going to be a tire smoker for now, unless you load the trunk up with a few 100 lb. sandbags. I think you did well on this deal, considering the engine and trans seem relatively solid!😉👍👍 EDIT: Back in the late 1980's I built up a rowdy 2.8L V6 for one of these, and it would light up the tires in 3 gears, and chirp them in 4th. I don't know if the guy ever made it to the strip with it, but it was a really fun little street cruiser!!😄

If you ever get the chance to get one, you should grab it. They're becoming extremely collectable. Interesting fact on them: they're front wheel drive. Extremely cool engineering on those rigs. P.S. The are Oldsmobile Tornado engine and transmission. They are unique and a decent small motor home but the rear suspension and fuel tanks are usually bad and with no replacement parts they usually require good fabrication skills to get them back on the road. But they got lucky on the Pinto they might get lucky on one of those motor homes as well.

First time checking out this channel and it made be happy to see the whole family involved, especially the goats. I also love compact cars with big engines. The entire trans and engine swap would have cost several thousand dollars even back in 70s. I think mama did the best donut for sure. Sounds like the trans has a stall speed converter and posi rear, maybe .373 gears. With a good tuning she will be a great competitor at the strip or at a burnout competition.

what a cool find, great deal. I noticed your shop doors are lacking the brush seals, you've got a lot of doors so that's a large investment for the seals, but it will help keep bugs out, and the air/heat in during winter

I have to say that what you and your family do together is just awesome!! I grew up the same way with my dad and brothers, always tinkering on something together and taking it to the woods or the fields to play to till we broke it.
