Whew! She's in rough shape! But that's a great bike. I've owned one since '88. Well worth the effort. Gonna take a lotta work, but she'll run. Good luck!

Hi there, I’m trying to start a motorcycle that has been sitting for a while. Shouldn’t I worry about the engine locking up? Or the pistons scratching the cylinders? Should I do any pre clean up before trying to start it?
@RustyRatchetGarageАй бұрын
Have you tried to turn it over yet, if not remove the spark plug pour transmission fluid into the cylinder, let sit for about 4 days. This will loosen up the rust and weep thru the rings, change the oil in case there is water in it. With the spark plug out put a towel over the engine so trans fluid don’t go all over. If it has a kick start, kick it slowly if not just crank it. This is how I do all my motors cars or bikes. Not always on video.

@@RustyRatchetGarage first of all, thanks for taking the time to respond to my question! It’s a CT1 and only has kick starter. When I gently kick it, I can feel the movement so I don’t think it’s locked up. It’s a 2 stroke engine and I’m assumed it’s still the same procedure? Thanks again.

People need to stop cutting them up. If you want a cafe then find one that somebody already fucked up with their zero ability to build and fix their garbage. Leave stock alone
