I agree. That old girl didn't have any ammeter or oil pressure gauges just two idiot lights that are supposed to come on when the key is turned on and go out when started. Bulb is out on the oil light - I'd hook a temp gauge into the system before the filter.

this is one of my favorite episodes of will it run. i think i’ve watched all 3 videos over 10 times. it might be something about giving a cheap car a backyard splash paint job just like the kids in the 60s and 70s did.

Quite the transformation !! She clearly wasn't ready for a "re-incarnation" since she started up and sounded so good after spending a whole 0 dollars on new parts. Have to call this one "Fina". Short for Delfina and "fine".

An oil filter canister was an option in 58 and that Blue Flame engine was upgraded to 145 hp. I waited for my parents to go to church in our other car (58 Olds) and took that Delray for a spin out of town and got that thing to dangle at 110mph. I was 13 years old. My father years later admitted knowing I'd driven the Delray because it was still doing the cool-down "tinking" in the driveway when they got back from church. I never told him how fast I'd driven it. Good days.

Is this the same sort of inline 6 say that wouldve come in late 1970's chevy novas? i know our boat had the inline 6 i believe 250 CI engine and it was from the early 70's..Seems to be in the same family...We had a lifter that ticked for the whole time we had it and it never got worse and we never did worry about it...reliable indeed..
@coldwarmotors10 жыл бұрын

+bababooey7576 NOT same engine as later Chevy 6. 235.5 "Stovebolt" used to 1962.
@bababooey75768 жыл бұрын
Hott Puppy same general family. not specific size/engine.
@hotpuppy18 жыл бұрын
+bababooey7576 No, the engine in the 58 is different family from the later sixes. It is the second generation Chevy 6 that came out in 1937 and ran to 1963. It had splash lube for the rods early on and went to full lube later. 4 main bearings. Had bypass oil filter. Third generation started in 1962 and there was some overlap the first year--Nova had 3rd gen 194 cu while full size had the 235 still. Third gen had full flow oil filter and seven main bearings. Bell housing patterns are also different between them. The later has the standard Chevy pattern. The 3rd gen was available in 194, 230 and 250--eventually grew to 292 for trucks. 2nd gen started as 216 and grew to 261 for trucks, 302cu for GMC

The body is in rough shape a lot of cancer under neath and right hand side, the old repair above the head light is really poorly done! Think the 235ci was also used in some trucks so they are built to last. could be wrong.
