Hi!
We're back, and this time we've scored this decrepit old Delray to save it from the scrapheap! It has been parked for over 25 years and has clearly seen better days. We're not gonna plate this one, but it needs some tidying up just to be presentable. Someone sanded a lot of the paint off many years ago, so I think we should try to touch it up a bit just for fun.
This old Chevy bottom-feeder still has its original 235-inch inline 6 banger; a very reliable old unit in the day. She wasn't seized up, so I figured it wouldn't take much to get it running again. Of course, she'd look a lot better with some cool old rims and tires from the CWMC used-tire division!
Well, thanks for tuning in; I hope you enjoy a little goofing around on this sweet old Delray... the budget has been set at zero, of course, so let's get to work!
Cheers from us here at CWMC Headquarters!

From a distance that thing looks really good. Amazing what can be done with a junk yard car on a zero budget. Even for someone who doesn't have a bunch of spare parts on hand, a project like that would only cost a few hundred bucks. Blankets on the seats and a proper exhaust and you could take your favorite girl out on a date.

Even for styling different than my favorite years of chevys I love the Delray rear end, this car went from trash to beautiful, if the undercarriage is good underneath and with an exhaust his could be put on the road and would turn heads. You've got a great car show right here in your own back yard. Thanx again Scott for saving and sharing these fantastic cars and making it look simple.

Scott another cool unique unknown classic saved from the crusher, though I do disagree with you guys on the rating at beginning, this was about a 3 or maybe a 4 with back seat intact, maybe a little better than the biscayne, at the very least both totally awesome tidying jobs and love the backdoor meeting on the body and around the tailigihts, both cars that I would love to own, in myopinion I think the are the vids I like the best, showing your craftsmaship and ingenuity in saving these old beaters and making em daily drivers, Please make some more fun vids like this.

Great to see the old girl all tarted up, really looks a treat on a close to zero budget. Ideal starter car for some kid to take home and improve while learning all about what these old gems were all about. Style and Reliability. Doesn't have ANY computerised crap on board. Something the average person with a little bit of knowledge could keep ticking over for years with a little bit of regular maintenance.

When I tell someone about Coldwarmotors, this short three part video series is usually what I tell them to watch. Scott starts out with a real mess of a throw-away car and turns it into something very presentable in four or five days with a budget of almost nothing. This video really hooks them, but good! :-) Regards, Tom

Outstanding! I've always loved that color combination. Pretty cool, resurrecting a clunker, and giving it a bit more life. In the past, some friends and I have done this with a few old motorcycles, dirt bikes mostly, to allow kids today a chance to experience what we rode when we were their age, before long travel suspensions and water cooled engines. It's fun to see a 12yo kid get on an old XR-75, then see the look on their face when they come back. It's like they didn't know what hit them. I won't discuss the Maico 400... Cheers to you, the crew and 'Stell for keeping things alive!

My late Father owned one of these around 1964 or 65. It was a chalky blue or grey color. I remember going on family picnics and outings in it. Dad "traded" it in on a 1960 Rambler, about the time I started school in 65, because the floor pans, etc were gone...typical East Coast Canada car rot. Thanks for awakening some good old memories.

Wow same color as my '58 BelAir I had back in 1977. Had some fun times in that car. The 235 six cylinder is bulletproof (especially after they went to full pressure oiling in 1953 on cars with Powerglide transmissions) Nice success story here.

this is awesome. i just fucking love the fact that somebody is saving all of these old cars. I would like to come across either a 53 or a 64 Ford that wouldn't be in too bad a shape so that I could have something that I had a long time ago.I have had at least 35-30 different cars and about as many old trucks in my life. coldwarmotors That fits. '66 - '68 was the time frame I was speaking of. My ride was $300, '56 Chevy Belair, no post 4 door, with a unknown brand 3 speed floor shifter, 265 ci V-8 that I swapped a manifold off my friends '58 to get 2 barrel carb. It was pure white except for the black spot on the hood that appeared not long after the carb swap from running to air cleaner... Learn a lot on that car.

Hey, thanks! You called it when you mentioned the sketchy used-car lot! Thats exactly what we were talking about as we patched the rust holes up and painted it outside in the yard. This is roughly how the low-end car lots would have prettied these things up a bit back in the days before the BBB and mandatory inspections, haha! We had some laughs imagining ourselves as the proprietors of some kind of sleazy mud-lot full of 10-year-old "cream puffs". I've already started on the next gem; stop in as soon as you get a chance, 9088!

Great looking car.. The 58's across the big 3 were the year of double head lights.. I think the 50's & 60's cars were the peak of styling.. By the mid 80's european styling took over & we've been stuck with that boring b.s. for 50 + years.

Also 63 Galaxy 500XL, 1959 Chrysler 500, 1963 Riviera, 1953 Henry J. Stella seemed to have been concerned that the Delray was on the road without noise abated.
