My Dad brought a new A554 in 1961 i think it was. The glow plugs never really worked so we always had a few cans of aerostart on the tractor , you lift the pre cleaner off and spray across the intake tube cold weather plenty of smoke.

Hi Steve, it’s definitely a 564 with A554 tin work. They are great Aussie made tractors & about 65HP, I have one & hobby farm with it. The 554 didn’t have a hydraulic filter & hydraulic tank is different, also the 564 steering is fed from the hydraulic system while the 554 had an belt driven power steering pump on the left front side of the engine. Battery box was on the left side of the tractor on the 554 but they moved it to the right on the 564 to put the operators steps on the left side. They will not start without glow plugs unless you use either. The dash & seat on yours are also 564. Cheers mate & keep up the good work.

Hi Travis thank you mate. I have 2 other 564 tractors here and yes they all are the same as you say. They all have homemade battery boxes on them. I actually made one for this one in part 2 episode. Not all Farmalls were Rowcrop, the name was a model brand name. Our new Farmall back in '42 was a normal, 4 wheel layout. It's still in the family having being beautifully restored to better than new condition by my brother 18 years ago, it has a Hesford winch on the back.

That tractor with the John Deere guards isn’t a a514 it’s a 554 with a514 tin work they where available as either a row crop or a wide front hence the steering shaft down the center love the video to mate can’t wait for the rest of the parts to come out so glad you haven’t quit also the international engines had the worst glow plug system ever made hence why a lot of them got addicted to ether I know the glow plugs are crook in my a514 but a quick sniff gets it going every time but the dragline needs a good sniff to get it going as none of the glow plugs work there is conversion kits to convert them to Toyota glow plugs tho that apparently work a lot better

It has an inline injector pump and doesn't have independent PTO, so I don't think it's an A554. It might be an AWD7, if it's not an A514.
@stevesplacedownunder
@stevesplacedownunder 2 ай бұрын
Hi mate thanks for reaching out. It has a 514 plate on it and the inline injection pump so I think it is from what I can see. They were very similar apart from the pump and a few other small changes. The parts book and repair manual lists both models. But I could certainly be wrong. Yes I think I’d rather use the ether than get the glow plugs all working. It doesn’t take much of it to get them going
