WILL IT START?? We Bought an Old Abandoned McCormick International 434 Tractor!

Will it start? Is there any life left in the 434? And if there is, what are we going to do to it next? Not our normal line of business but James found this old tractor for sale and thought we'd have a go, let us know what you think in the comments.
We found a 53 year old 434 McCormick International Tractor that had been sat in a field for 10 years. Watch to find out if we get it started and whether there's any surprises under the hood.

Get heater plugs for a Mercedes van engine, they fit straight on and the tractor will start perfect after about 5 seconds of heating them. Have had several of these little international tractors over the years 👍👍

@@Chappomusic I bypassed the glowing spiral and wired it to a push button, I just count to 5-6 seconds and it fires right up. Not very technical I know but it works.

I am from India I have 1972 model Mocormick Intl B276 tractor and still my tractor is working well. It's very good tractor.

Remember those tractors, my Late Dad Don bought 1963 a 40 hp B414 Desiel motor loader tractor Mc-Cormick International had trip bucket from Farmall & Mc-Cormick International dealer in September of 1963 price was $3.500 back then! Was 12 Negative grounded system one big battery and was first tractor I learn to start also drive plus use on home farm plus farms he rent with his late Brother Bill had home farm together plus rents too! B-414 had not cab on it and was excellent work tractor for feild work plus square bales in triangle 6 pile in feilds with fork attachment ! Plus snow in Cold Canada of Ontario winter's for Snow removal plus bucket doing maure waste and stones pick on trip bucket! Never fail to start up after block heater for 1 hour on cold start ups ! No Ether Quick Start fluid need ever also exhausted was down draft on right around the corner of foot boards to muffler and tail pipe on back left side ! Also need any information about those B 275 to 444 Mc-Cormick International Deisel or Gas engines ask me plus changed 12 Volt Negative grounded Generator to 1968 to 1985 Delco Alternator wire up or anything! Plus start up too!

I noticed the young guy with Hayes is giving all the orders, he doesn’t know the weed eater from the tractor.the old timer forgot more than he’ll ever know. City boy returns w new bat tree as the English pronounce it lol.city boy from Hayes sucking in some diesel smoke! Yesterday couldn’t spell tractor sales man today i is one!!!!

If you put a bigger headstock on with a bigger bucket you'll have to accompany it with PAS and a massive rear counter-weight. While that bucket may not look like much its all a 434 has wheelgrip as is to fill, and all the weight the standard steering set up can take and still be reasonably useable. A bigger bucket if used to reasonable enough capacity to justify the work putting it on is going to cause the front end to eat main axle pivot bushes, wheelbearings and steering joints regardless though. Nice to hear the old beast running though, had one the same age as that one for 10+ years in the 80's/90's, saw pretty much all of the insides of her at one time or another fixing this and that.

I have a 444, almost similar to 434 .it dont respond very well to hammers but ordinary tools and a little wd40 works better. And handbrake lever is in off position pointed backwards.

original IHC glowplugs cost 11 and nickel connecting wires cost like 8 dollars a piece so 76bucks without shipping for all new glowplug system it might even work, it just takes a while to heart up , its a 2mm strong real wire

434 should use 1000 to 850 Cold Cranks for warmer weather or 750 or higher number for Cold temperatures styke and 150 to 180 Mins Reserve Amps help and won't burn out your Starter drive or Generator or Alternator plus electronic parts! Mins Reserve Amps help back home or shop if Generator or Alternator quit recharge battery for instance 60 mins is 1hour or 60 mins on Reserve Amps !

Add grey bottle of STP Total Treatment fuel injection in tank full every 3 months and 500 ml of Dexron 2 or 3 Automatic transmission with fuel to cure some the smokes on cold and warm starts! Plus try put new fuel filter, bleed it plus injectors too and use primer pump to also start motor up too ! If 434 tractor Desiel motor type try this put kill knob in , put key ignition switch to on , pull the J handle for glow plugs to warm also by Ammeter gauge be salt metal glow red or put thumb near fell heat in 5 mins then clutch pedal plus grab gear shift to Netural selection and pull starter handle down to start to turn motor for 1 min at time ! Don't use Ether Quick Start hard motor plus fuel injection system that pump has rubber blubbler pump system get fuel! Also if Gas motor, don't use Dexron Automatic transmission fluid , but have use choke and Throttle adjust in also out !

Don't put a bigger bucket on it. Remember that you don't have power steering. You'll need arms like Popeye to steer it if you put a bigger bucket on it! Also check the glow plugs - there's one for each cylinder. It may need a new set, but with working glowplugs and 10 to 20 seconds of heat it should fire right up without any easy start spray.

Started working at IH dealership 1974 the B275and the b414 were made in England they had Lucas electric components glow plugs might need replacing

I love old iron don’t care so much about what colors. The MF TO’s were ahead of the others with power steering and over head valves (others) I mean Ford) 9,2,8n but ford did catch up

Damien, this guy only knows BMW,or Mercedes lol there’s no way he knows about dual stage clutch, clock in dash? Lol don’t quit your day job. The steering fluid level is on top of the hitch. There is a plug not that drain plug you English knuckle head city boys. Buy some hytran and a grease gun,look in the operator manual they will show you what a grease gun looks like

Hey, don't throw away that manual. Set it by the fire for a month and clean the pages and it might be a lifesaver. Save every bit of metal around it, these pieces cost to buy. Just a cover or something getting a new old bit get it.

I have one of those Mott mowers and there is a belt that is supposed to have a twist in it. If the twist is not there the flails go the wrong way. On ours there were plates of metal bolted to the front. It was an engineering nightmare.
