Thank goodness that common sense prevails. JK is the voice of the majority. She’s not victimising anyone, she’s protecting the status quo. Simple.
@aaronlangley83386 ай бұрын
What if the status quo victimizes people? Isn't protecting the status quo victimizing people in that case? Pick any social issue in which society has made progress that you agree with. You dislike slavery, I would presume. Anyone attempting to protect the status quo of slavery was victimizing the slaves. I realize that transphobia and slavery are not on the same level. I am not saying the two are equivalent. I used it to show how the status quo can victimize people. Fell free to think that trans people are crazy, and their issues deserve no attention or protection. But yes, you can victimize people by protecting the status quo.
@DebsUK5926 ай бұрын
@@aaronlangley8338 I will pick one social issue in which progress HAD been made, thank you. And, that WAS the rights of women. Women fought long and hard against the status quo years ago, for our rights to not be seen as second class citizens , and we are still fighting. You, I think, see the status quo now as being anti trans, when I see it as being anti women. Just look what women have lost during the last few years. We are now cis women We are chest feeders We are not mothers, but the person who gave birth We have had to give up our safe spaces, changing rooms and toilets Sports Can you tell me what men have had to give up please? Can you tell me what my rights as a woman are anymore? Very poor analogy concerning the slave trade and transphobia!
@aaronlangley83386 ай бұрын
@DebsUK592 Thank you for choosing a specific topic. I appreciate it when you make yourself look like a fool. It makes it easier for me to point out for everyone else. Women didn't have rights in the past tence. They have rights. You don't lose one right, and as a consequence, lose all of them. Women still have the right to vote, for example. See how easy that was. Think before you type next time. Go off about Trans people infringing on your right to gendered bathrooms or gender segregated sports. They are not your rights. Some of the issues listed are actual issues. You just have to find a way to communicate them that don't make you look like a ponce. The problem with your comment is not that you have a problem with Trans people. The problem is that you express yourself as this tragic victim because society changed in a way you don't like. Protest all you want. Just make sense when you do it. I used slavery as an example for a specific reason. I was looking for a societal change everyone agrees with. I explicitly acknowledge slavery being an extreme thing to compare this to. In this comment section, using movements like women's rights, voting rights, and LGBTQ+ rights might not be seen as a universal good. I noticed you did not address the issue I raised. Do you agree that the status quo can oppress people or not? You correctly say women had to fight for their rights. Doesn't that mean the old staus quo oppressed woman? Don't you see how just standing up for the status quo would be a nonsense excuse to deny women's rights.
@barryledgister44966 ай бұрын
@@aaronlangley8338 I think the OP is talking about a biological and physical status quo. Men can`t be women and women can`t be men. That isn`t victimising anybody. It`s stating a fact that a tiny proportion of society wish to upend.
@aaronlangley83386 ай бұрын
@@barryledgister4496 Thank you for the clearly stated position. I respect that it can just be stated and not hinted at. You made claims that reasonable people can talk about, I love it. TLDR: 1.That status quo is harmful, believing it or discussing it in a normal forum is not problematic. 2. Using your large public platform to reinforce and demand the continuation of the harmful status quo is doing harm. 3. Hermaphrodites and diverse gender identities make it not a fact. 4. Polls show a varying level of support for trans people dependent on the specific issue. The concept of women is a gender identity, and female is a sex. The biological and physical aspects of a person would be the persons sex. Some people think gender is a spectrum and others think it is a binary. Sex is pretty binary, your genetics and sexual organs are typically one way or the other. Hermaphrodites are a rare exception to this. To say transgender people cannot change their biological and physical nature is to miss the point. While some trans people do have surgery to change/remove their sexual organs, a lot of them just change their gender. I am aware most viewers of this video will say regardless it can't or shouldn't happen. I just think it is important to clarify the terms and objectives. Is gender binary? I and many would answer no, but it is okay if you disagree with me. I would say that non binary gender identities are present throughout history and in different cultures. Can you change gender, again I would say yes. I have meet transgender people who live normal lives as their chosen gender. They are not criminals or perverts. Some of those people are still in my life as friends and colleagues. It is fine, really it is. The claim that the status quo of gender being binary and unchangeable is bad for trans people. Believing that claim or stating it during conversations on the topic does not mean you victimize people. If you use your large public following to reinforce a harmful status quo and often argue that the harmful status quo is good, then you are victimizing people. As for the tiny minority of society. An Ipsos poll from last summer conducted in the UK had some interesting results. I will highlight the 77% in favor of protection from housing and employment discrimination. Also 47% support for gender affirming care for teens. The issue is not black and white enough to say a clear majority or a tiny minority. Different people feel different ways about different challenges. www.ipsos.com/en-uk/ipsos-pride-2023-global-survey-two-in-three-britons-think-transgender-people-face-discrimination

The Scottish Government (I laughingly call them that) know that their blasphemy law wouldn't stand up to scrutiny in an actual Court of Law, in fact, I'm sure the European Court of Human Rights would strike down this law in a minute. Freedom of Expression is guaranteed. If you don't like what someone says, then tough luck, it's their right to say it. You don't have the right, however, to threaten and intimidate, and yet we see the so-called "trans" community do this EVERY single day and they get away with it! For those of us who remember, the Harry Potter books stirred a mini Santanic Panic when they were first published - they were banned from libraries and burned because - oh dear - witchcraft. This is one of the reasons the books became so popular, as kids like myself started reading them out of curiosity and fell in love with them. Just like back then, those burning the books now have been completely brainwashed to believe that there is something evil behind them. And, just like back then, more will pick up the books out of curiosity (if a book is being burned, it must be good, right?) and discover a wonderful world. Harry Potter helped me through my teenage years - reading the first book when I was 11 and the last when I was 21. Daniel and Emma can stuff it (they were horribly miscast anyway). I’m a proud woman who stands with JK (who is speaking nothing but common sense) and can’t wait to pass my battered copies of my HP books to my kids.

Calling her a Holocaust denier was wrong. Not a hate crime, probably slander though. JK Rowling commented on a post about Nazis burning books related to transgender people. This is true, they did this. It is easily attained and public information. She implied that the person posting this was having a fever dream and needed to check their sources. JK Rowling either did not know or is lying. She probably needed to check her sources... This is not Holocaust denial. It is in reference to events that happened before the Holocaust, for one. However, misleading people about Nazi book burning is bad. She is against book burning, she should be calling this behavior out as wrong. Both sides are in the wrong.

there’s a group of trans women superheroes that can’t decide if they should be ex-men or trans-formers,but I think they should be decepticons.

@@fionahall3900 I'm so tired of people who announce their sexual preferences as if this is their entire identity above all else. It reeks of insecurity and I don't give a rat's a** who people sleep w/because it's no one else's damn business. I sure don't go around introducing myself as a heterosexual like I think I'm special, blah, blah, blah...

@@isabellind1292 Maybe we actually should go around introducing ourselves like that, the "others" might get to know how boring they sound by their continual pronouncements of their sexuality. Just get on with it and stop boring the rest of the world.

I've always said that we women deserve and need a version of "He's got Balls" - not sure what it should be but sometimes a woman comes along that makes me proud to be a woman. JK Rowling is one such woman. I probably don't agree with her on a lot of social and political issues, but She's got what it takes to stand up the bullies.

Cause JK comes from humble beginnings and is still sane she isn’t a diva and not a sell out sure she’s rich and is in charge of the licensing but she’s smart about it and never forgot where she was and who she is. This I agree wholeheartedly even though I don’t agree with everything she says, I’m glad she’s standing up for herself and not apologizing or bending the knee. She’s allowed her opinions and should fight for them. Great vid 👍🏼

HP actors can all have different opinions , but to lack JK respect is so wrong; where would they be without her books( and her).!! ps What have they done since? Not a lot.😊
