The slander on Quansah feels like deja vu with the vitriol against Jones. People are singing the latter's praises now. Why? Because good players don't become bad, they only end up in bad contexts. Jones biggest strengths are being press-resistant, ball-carrying, and fantastic goalscoring instincts. These are his strengths. Towards the end of Klopp's tenure, he abandoned the controlling style of 2018-2020 as he lacked the legs in the forward line and midfield and decided to revert to his highly transitional football pre-2018. Of course that will make a midfielder with strengths like Jones look bad as he's much better playing with patient buildup. But everyone got on his back for "slowing the game down". I repeatedly said on the subreddit that Jones is a real talent after his hat-trick of assists against Porto early in his Liverpool career. Now that he's in a system that plays more to his strengths, everyone suddenly thinks he's a world-beater and it just frustrates me how short the fanbase's memory is. It's the exact same thing with Quansah. He was absolutely brilliant last season and because he's not finding his feet in this new system, everyone's getting on his back. He's 21 for crying out loud. Try and recognize the potential and give those with high ceiling some patience to realize that potential. Geez. If he really cannot adapt to Slot's system like Darwin appears to be, then fine. But for now, Quansah's minutes are so limited it's unfair to say whether he's good enough for Liverpool at the moment. Heck, I'd even be as charitable as to say even Darwin deserves another season given the change in our attacking approach. Also, Marmoush being able to play in the right wing is the same as saying Darwin, Jota and Diaz are able to play in the right wing. Marmoush is right footed. He's flexible and adaptable but the right wing is not his optimal position. Can he stand in for Salah on the occasion? Sure. But I'd rather get Marmoush in as our long term centre forward. There's two ways to handle Salah's succession. Either continue the paradigm and get a technically gifted, hard-working, pacy left-footed goalscoring winger, OR we can accept a shift in the paradigm and move the goalscoring burden to another position like the centre forward and get a right footed pacy winger who's even better at beating their man and great at chance creation, like Ben Doak. The main goalscoring threat of Liverpool before Salah wasn't the right winger. It doesn't have to continue to stay that way after him. If Marmoush is prolific in the centre, we can accept a profile that's different from Salah on the right.

Robertson + Mac Allister make Gravenberch play better. Whenever the ball is at the opposition, Mac Allistar and Robertson are the Rhino's in Liverpools midfield and front of the defensive box area. They run meters other won't, Robertson and Mac Allister should get Recognition for all that running for the team. Every player @ Liverpool delivers what they should or what is expected, just a few exceptions that need to improve ( Darwin & Gravenberch ), but Robertson and Mac Allister running and lungcapacity and determination are the glue that makes the others Thrive. Also, Endo & Slobiszlai are as good as Gravenberch if not better, but Gravenberch is the safest choice for less errors.

Kerkez & Zubimendi would solve a lot of problems if they arrive in January, but keeping Endo still solves a lot of issues as he can play 2 positions (DM & CB, CB is Endo's most-played position of his career). In terms of "opportunistic signings", as Hughes called it in the summer, Dani Olmo (£150k p/w) can play 3 different positions is not registered with Barcelona and is technically a Free Agent or someone to loan in.

Good observations about LB and a versatile midfielder would be very welcome too. Especially the last 3 or 4 games others than the extraordinary Mo Salah are also scoring goals. Through runs, passes and combinations, space is found for who ever can finish the resulting scoring chance. In Slot's football dynamics positions seem less strictly defined which can be an important tactical advantage if skillfully executed. This also makes it less urgent to spend excessively in January.

I would prefer to have another high quality back up for VVD as CB (preferably left footed) who can also play left back in emergency situation, another left back (like Kerkez, Robinson or Alphonso Davies), a defensive midfielder (like Zubimendi) and another young centre attacking midfielder (to do all the running stuff so that we can protect and prolong both Szoboszlai and Curtis career). Maybe we can harness Szoboszlai potential to become a dead-ball specialist. For Nunez i would love him to have a special coach or training on how to be more clinical as no 9. Or perhaps can loan or sell him to Italy with an option to buy back. It is just a matter of time before he will reach his full potential. We also need to improve our set pieces and throw-in. Marmoush is a good player since he can play no 9, no 11 and no 8 equally well. This means he can attack from the right, also have the ability to be both main striker and attacking midfielder (can subsititute Salah /Szoboslai). He is also quite good at set pieces. This current squad is so strong and full of potential.

Highly unlikely to make any signings in January, let alone anything as significant as these, for several reasons. Firstly, there's very little value in January, very few teams are prepared to sell good players and those that are are massively overpriced. Second thing is that Liverpool play a complex system of pressing that needs time to learn so even if these players were signed they would be unlikely to make a significant impact in the current season (this is one of the reasons for Gravenberch's struggles last season, and Chiesa's this). Third is that we don't want to block a prominsing young players pathway to the team (Nyoni, Doak, Ngumoha), Quansah has had some issues this season but he showed last season how much promise he has, even earning an England call up. Id say you are right about LB being a priority because Robbo is in decline and Tsimikas was never really the answer and Kerkez is a definite possibility in the summer, although that partly depends on what agreement are in place with Bournemouth given Richard Hughes' prior involvement there. My second priority is keeper as i think both Alisson and Kellerher leave in the summer, Mamardashvili is coming but we wold still need a good quality no.2. Third is a backup right back because i think TAA is out(i think Salah and Van Dijk both stay). Centre Mid is no longer a priority.

We need both a LB and RB, another CB would be good too. The problem with FSG is how good they are at everything AND their big fat stealth business model which translates to anything better than just ending a season in the top 4 and making it to the UCL qtr finals is gravy on their pile of net income. Naturally, we fans want them to spend in order to get the very best but they keep proving they don't have to because they create the very best in house. Now with a young energetic Slot, they couldn't be happier. That said appreciating all the benefits of having a professional sports management corporation as owners of LFC, I will personally NEVER forgive John Henry and his team if they let Mo or VVD go. I would get a LB and a long-term forward coz Jota can't stay fit and Darwin doesn't seem to be improving. For LB its Robinson, then forward I would bid for Marmoush or out of favor Ollie Watkins coz he already knows the prem and is great on the counter attack.

@AllRedShow Kyle walker joined City at a similar age in 2017 and was good till last season, he is now 34 years old. Robinson is now in his prime.Liverpool now play with more control so Robinson can easily do 5-7 years at Liverpool without getting burnt out and losing his legs like Robertson.
