As someone who has been on and off SSRIs many times, I totally agree with what he is saying in this video. I made way too big of a deal out of it, and sadly I even got sucked down the rabbit hole of thinking meds were the devil and thinking my anxiety was being caused by a protracted withdrawal and obsessing about it. It’s a dark world people. Try your best not to go there.

Been following you and am loving the videos. Truth is, there are long terms affects of SSRI's and other drugs. I highy recommend watching Dr. Horowitz's videos on KZbin. He's got a Phd. in Psychiatry and has done the work on looking into all published data and has A LOT of good info. Basic message is, the longer you're on SSRI's, the longer and MUCH slower your taper should be. Symptoms from too quick of a taper can mask as return of the condition!!! Then, people go right back on because they assume it's because they're depressed/ anxious again.

@@blackjon4lorazepam for sleep. I couldn’t fall asleep or stay asleep like at all. Nothing but this helped. I only took it once before bed. I started with 1.5mg and then micro tapered until I was at zero. I didn’t start tapering till almost 2 months in. I had a little rebound anxiety for a day or 2 then i would feel ok and taper again. Pretty much if I took 1.3mg one day I would take 1.28 the next day and so on…if I had a little too much anxiety the next day I would keep my same dose and taper off the day after. I also bought a pill scale to help me be accurate. Apparently not every pill is made the same size, so the scale helped a lot.

Gonna correct Shaan on the long term effects of SSRIs, there are documented long term effects of SSRIs, and often the doctors will intentionally conceal these effects from their patients. I am kinda disappointed how so many people are kept in the dark about the dark side of psychotropic meds.

Taper down when u feel it’s right. I feel like the goal should be to get better n eventually cut out the medication, but doctors never go this route. They always wanna put u on something different n never even talk about tapering down. Y would they, if u get better n no longer need medication, they lose money. Be careful about this, doctors always tell me that I might have to be medicated for the rest of my life, that’s bullshit, never believe this, bcuz if u do then you’ll never get better without medication. They just want your business forever so they can continue making money off u. It’s pretty fucked up.

I truly believe if I was not put on xanax 19 years ago I wouldn't be in the horrible situation I am in now. I was put on it after losing my dad, I had no anxiety, I was depressed! They told me I'd be on them for life, basically treated it like an antidepressant. I am now suffering bad with anxiety/panic attacks & agoraphobia which hit me about 6 years ago. I'm pissed at myself that I didn't question it. I am now working with a psychiatrist to taper off the xanax. I want my life back, I was a social butterfly who now rarely leaves the bed 😢😢😢 Any advice?

My experience working in psychiatry watching multiple psychiatrists prescribe medication, I trust only a few of them. A lot prescribe benzo wrong, don't follow up, few are giving enough information to make an informed decision. I agree with what Shaan say about using these medications with a responsible psychiatrist, I do not agree that all or most are responsible.

Yes medication can help. More importantly make sure you get your b vitamins checked , as many people with MTFHR gene don’t know their body can’t process them properly. I was in a bad way last year, I have gene mutations, and severely low folate, probably low folate for years without knowing as my body can’t process natural food and folic acid, so it has to be methylated. I’ve supplemented with folinic acid and hydroxy b12 and I’m a new person. No anxiety, OCd has gone , it’s something as simple as that sometimes

It doesn't work, it's contradictory. If you're cured, why continue taking medications? If you still take them it means you are "afraid to stop" and have symptoms; this is incontrovertible! Or could there be states of anxiety that necessarily require drugs, i.e. incurable? This question must be answered, otherwise anxiety is never defeated.

The last time the anxiety always would get better in the evenings I felt no anxiety as soon as the night fall would come. I felt like anxiety was not even there. Just the far away thought of until the next day would start. But I recovered fully about a year after I knew what I had. I was anxiety free and happy for over a decade!!

Jesus has placed it on my heart to share the Gospel, gospel means good news! Jesus, God the Son the Son of God, died, and spilled His precious blood, on the cross to pay the price for our sins. He was buried and on the third day rose from the dead just like the scriptures said He would. Salvation is a gift from God, please accept it now if you haven't already by BELIEVING in what Jesus did for us. The rapture of the Church, when saved people are called up to Heaven to be with the Lord, is imminent. Then the people who are left here are still given one more chance, they will be offered a mark in their right hand or forehead DO NOT TAKE THE MARK, people who take the mark of the beast will go to Hell for Eternity. People will not be able to buy or sell without this mark, but those who do not take it will be beheaded for their faith. Accept your salvation today, through faith by grace, if you have not accepted it.
