Will Milwaukee Packout fit inside DECKED Drawers? Are they Compatible?

I use the Decked Bed Storage along with Milwaukee Packout. I have a video of how I use the two for my Truck Loadout here - • Lifetime Warranty Comm...
Since I primarily use the Packout in the cab of my truck, I have been asked multiple times if they will fit in the DECKED System drawers. I tried it out and the answer isn't yes or no. I decided to make the video so you could decide for yourself. Are they the perfect marriage, or as compatible as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard?

I hadn’t even thought about putting them in until I was trying to answer the questions. I had just assumed they would work, but waste a lot of space around them. I’m going to move some of my single slim organizers from in my truck to my drawers. It’s crazy how well they fit. Thanks for sharing. Glad to get some feedback from someone else who has the system.

@@MORGANSMaintenance I debated on getting a decked system. For now, I went with a larger rolling tool chest from Milwaukee since it kind of acts like a drawer but can be removed if the space is needed.

@@jaycarneygiants I really liked mine. I like drawers period, but I normally have built my own. I bought the Decked System because of a time crunch but I’m glad I did. The only downsides of having drawers in your truck (of any kind) is getting heavier/bigger stuff in your truck. The decked system handles the weight fine… it’s the extra height and that you have two levels to get the stuff up now, like steps. I have to get it on my tailgate, then on top of my drawers. The other thing without the drawers your tailgate is like a bed extension for longer stuff. Now that there is a step down, I don’t have that either. Both of those situations are not things I need often and compared to the storage I get, the time I save not moving stuff around, not having to climb in the bed of my truck, and the protection. Drawers are worth dealing with that…. For me, not for everyone. If I needed to use my whole bed a lot I would go with something like what you’ve done that is removable. I have an older Truck Load-out Video that talks about the Decked System a little more if you haven’t seen that. My next evolution in Truck storage may be an electric truck. I never would have wanted one till I saw the “Frunk” where then engine normally is. I could probably fit everything in my drawers in one of those…. Only problem is these days you can either buy a house or a truck 😂

Thank you for doing this video. I have the Decked system and love it, but I'm not a fan of their boxes or the dividers. I've been using Ridgid since I feel like I get more bang for the buck - the Milwaukee system is just so damned expensive. That said, having seen how they fit in the Decked drawers, you've convinced me to switch. Ridgid doesn't fit the drawers at all.

I agree with you on the decked storage boxes. I bought one to try and it has become my random stuff that I throw in the back of the drawer box. The Packout is pricey. Home Depo has the buy more save more going on with Packout right now if you can swing it. It makes it still expensive… but more on par with other brands. That’s good to know on the Ridgid. Appreciate you sharing it.

What about the milwaukee packout backpack? Any idea if that fits? I have so much milwaukee packout stuff and was thinking to switch to this now and keep my.packout boxes that fit inside.

Is anyone else annoyed by the fact the the packet left lift is undone when he puts in in the pullout drawer and doesn't sit down all the way?

Yeah I noticed that when I watched it back, sorry about that. It wasn’t intentional. I think I was going to show how I would use it like the Decked box (which I leave unlatched and use as a catch all) but forgot to latch it back. That Packout box will still only fit by itself whether it’s latched or not and all you can fit in that space. So whether it fits down in a little better latched or at the slight angle, that’s all you can fit in that spot. My mess up that I didn’t notice while filming 🤦‍♂️… sorry it annoyed you

I didn’t have two of those on me to try, but the two slim organizers are the exact same height as one of those when put together. In the orientation I put them in the video you can only fit (3 slims) or (1 medium and 1 slim). If you turn them the length of the drawer to where the entire box sits in that 12” area down the middle it is really close. I put (1 medium and 2 slims which = 2 mediums) The drawer will shut, but it rubs the entire time you are pushing it in. I would say still doesn’t fit… too close for comfort. Plus in that orientation it leaves a lot of wasted space. Hope that makes sense.

@@noahglasgow9324 actually in the many years I’ve been using it. Not many people have ever commented. Comical that you said anything!!!!!! Many years ago, in the 80’s and 90’s. I occasionally hung out at night in a Pizza shop while working Law Enforcement. Because I’m 6’ 4” tall. Someone that worked there started calling me The Big Cheese! And that somehow transitioned into BigSmegma. 44 came In because that was my favorite handgun caliber due to Clint Eastwood movies during that era!

Could you put the packout mounting bracket on top of the decked system?

I would think so, they sell rails and things (even a cargo glide now) that you can mount to it. I am sure if you mount something other than what they offer it probably voids your warranty… if that matters to someone.

The organizer box will fit . And you can shave off the divider ridges off with an oscillating tool. The smaller Milwaukee’s Fit the best though

@@jesseranals589 yeah I actually like the divider ridges with the Milwaukee. I had almost shaved them off but I was waiting till my warranty was up. I’m also going to see if I can modify it for my drawers to roll out farther now that I’ve had it past my warranty period. Thanks for helping out 👍

I don’t think so, that Decked Box fits in there really snug. There is about 1/2” of clearance… so maybe. I like your way of thinking though…👍

Decked drawers smell like good systainer fit... I'm surprised that you didn't make your own drawers for the pickup. Concrete forming plywood would make these waterproof and durable. This way you could easily optimise the space much better. That Decked thing wastes a bit of space, I think. Besides, given your care about tools, I bet the Decked insert is in pristine condition, so it will be easy to sell without loss.

There are a few things I don’t like about it and a few things I do. I actually did make drawers in my last truck but when I got this one I was in a time crunch and went this route. I also wasn’t using particular boxes. My self built drawers were square so it was easier to fit things in and the best part was I could pull them all the way out. The Decked Systems biggest advantage to me is the material it’s made from and amount of weight you can still put on top…. But I don’t typically need that. You are right though… nothing works better than what you custom build to suit your needs.

@@MORGANSMaintenance Plywood base covered with proper rubber lining would hold as much weight. And you could probably fit 3 drawers. Besides, building your own insert for the F150 would be a great content for the channel. Given the popularity of this pickup...

@@Stefan_Kawalec yeah I had three slots in my old truck. It was one wider drawer, one a little narrower, and a space down the middle that the drawer faces covered. I used it for my levels. I didn’t have any problem carrying what I needed on them for weight. It actually helped since my drawer faces were the height of my box if I left them pulled out and my tailgate down they supported longer material while hauling them. I built them to go around my wheel wells so it didn’t transfer over to my new truck easily. If I build another set (and make them fancy 😂) I think I will just build one to fit between them… that way it could transfer from truck to truck. You have me missing them and thinking about it now.. 😂

@@MORGANSMaintenance Yeah, you could make modular ones. I'd avoid any fanciness. It doesn't quite match with F150s. But seriously, it should be a build that almost every average DYI-er could replicate by their own. A workhorse accessory for a workhorse. You have the skills, you have the space, you have the tools. And you probably need it :)

2 systainers face to face are about the size of a packout. You could just line them up in these drawers. I think I'd prefer a nice square wooden drawer for those, though.

Ideally it would be the decked system with their boxes, and a custom top sliding out of the bed with packout bases screwed in. Kinda a mix between decked + bedslide + packout.

Yeah they make a kit where the Cargo Glide connects onto the Decked system. That would be nice to have. I would want a Camper Shell or something covering all that, if not people would most likely steal stuff. It would be pretty sweet though.

Milwaukee as a whole is owned by a Chinese company. It's Chinese my man. Not just made like everything. They are OWNED. as in no longer an American company. And it's been that way for almost a decade. They don't make nothing in America anymore. Including smart people. ​@@MORGANSMaintenance
