In oz this is what our Holden torana is based on, front end is very very similar to our 67 68 late hb/lc torana, from what i see it looks to be a hb but lc had the same grill n headlights , all hbs I believe had that horrid 1.9L in em (lots ripped em out in favor of v8s) lc had 1.9L 4, 173-202 Holden straight 6s (very similar to the chev 6s) , best of the bunch was the xu1 had 190hp 202 6 n 4 speed that demolished the big Ford gthos around Bathurst back in the late 60s n into the 70s 👍 Personally I'd drop a buick l67 into it lol with an l36 top end (heads n manifold) and fit a turbski 👌 Small block chevs fit well too 👍

@@jonasthemovie It’s not that there is an exact version of this. The platform that your Opel is based on is the same that the Torana was. Holden (like so many famous Holden’s) took the Opel/Vauxhall and made it better. Stronger chassis, and built for the Aussie market. The did some cool things to these cars. That is the point of my comment. It’s the inspiration for doing something amazing with what you have there.
@FuManchu5ltr3 жыл бұрын
@@jonasthemovie The styling of the HB and LC Toranas is closest with the Opel Ascona. The later Opel Asconas/Rekord formed the basis of what Holden pulled apart and made into the VB Commodore. Took the Opel. Through most of it away. Remade a large part of it. Robbed the styling. Fitted with Aussie engines and they ripped. My current Commodores even have Opel marked trims in them.

I will admit , I’m spoiled by fuse blocks and bulkhead harness disconnects and mid harness disconnects . That seemed to come when engineers , of various manufacturers , foreign and domestic , teamed up to make worldwide industry standard changes for the purpose of foreign consumption . My 1980 Jeep CJ 5 , as all vehicles of its era , has the fuse block design . My 1973 CJ 5 has in line fuses and it would seem the Jeep was built around the wiring harness , as seems the case of this OPEL . That’s makes it especially handy when your trying to repair a harness or body panels where wiring is threaded through . I’m sure there is a method , but all I’ve found is unplug where there actually is a plug and thread all the engine harness through the firewall and spread it out on the floor and get to it . It’s suggested to tag all connections because it’s extremely likely you will get sick of it quickly and put it off for a while , months or years . I don’t mind simple wiring repair , but for the complicated ones , such as uncommon terminal connections and just the all too famous hacked and modded ones , I’ll search eBay for a better one .
@gmoney95882 жыл бұрын
That’s really not a bad looking car . I can see why the young lady took a shine to it . Surely she has made a bid for it . I can’t believe a better firewall wasn’t joined to the wheel well and / or strut tower for a better battery tray location . Surprising though , you know the German engineers are better than that . If this battery didn’t corrode through where it did , I’m guessing it would still be in the hands of the previous owner ? Yeah , small engine bay , couldn’t get a v6 4.3 Chevy in there so I guess it stays an OPEL . I hope under all that plastic , there is a metal firewall . Ralph Nader would have never let that pass as safe if it wasn’t ? Cool little car though . New to me , all I ever heard of from OPEL was the Kadet. It,was in the junkyard I worked in at the time . It belonged there , it came in pre - rotted . Hope this car fairs better .

In oz our 66 67 hb torana is heavily based on these and we do exactly that lol 302 n 350 swaps are common in these 👍 not the most popular toranas but that's good in a way as it keeps them cheap the following models, lc lj lh n lx toranas are pretty much unaffordable now ,you'll pay 15 20k plus just for a shell 😔 Love seeing all these weird opels our Holdens are based on ,gives me idea's for cool interesting builds and the opel versions are still fairly cheap to buy 🤔👍

This is what the og hb torana was based on , grill n headlights are same on lc too but some early hbs had the same grille n lights as the lc , was changed in late hbs to that flat looking one which also came on the 4 cyl lcs and the lc style was refined and put on the 6 cyl lcs, rear lights n tail section are slightly different, they tried to make them look just enough different for ozzies to believe it was a completely Holden designed car in oz lol Remember it still wasn't very fashionable to be associated with Germany in the 60s 🤷♂️😂 ww2 only ended in 45 ,if ozzies knew at the time it was a German car they wouldn't of sold any 😂 All our Holdens are based on opels apart from the ve vf Commodores and obviously the Isuzu n Vauxhall stuff. Only thing Holden did was redesign aspects of them and styling to suit Australian conditions and obviously put better engines in them 👍
