Issues aside, some really good progress. And one more #piggybankhorsepower runner! 😁

Thanks T! Once I get this bad boy driving with 500 miles on the odo, it'll be dyno time 😬

You have a great foundation there for an awesome truck. Great progress and I know you’ll get her ironed out. I like those mufflers. Inexpensive and they flow!
@sorta_stock13 күн бұрын
Thanks, Joe! These mufflers only run about $55 each. Killer deal if you ask me.

Try using some Anaerobic Gasket Maker on those cork gaskets. It cures with heat and seals nicely from my experience, it doesnt care if its not perfectly clean either. I mostly used it on oil pump O-rings when reusing them on modern cars.
@sorta_stock10 күн бұрын
I just swapped those corks for a set of rubber coated versions. Hoping they actually work.

Looks great! Do you have a part number for the trans cooler and line kit? Great build!

You know using the factory radiator trans cooler will put a certain amount of heat in the transmission? Cus your rad has heat in it. Im not saying to not use it, but you might wanna put some thought in it. Would it be cooler by bypassing the rad cooler?? Idk forsure?
@sorta_stock19 күн бұрын
The rad will introducea small amount of heat to the trans fluid however, it would be at a much lower temp than the fluid. The configuration i went with for this pickup mirrors the old police package of the 70s and 80s dodges.

Is that the best way to plumb/route the add on trans cooler ? It seems you are cooling fluid to just put it into maybe a radiator that may be running hot and defeating the purpose of the add on cooler . It just seems wrong ..Just asking ?
@sorta_stock14 күн бұрын
The external air cooler will cool the liquid however, it's not as efficient and will likely only shed 20-30 degrees off. When I'm working the pickup, I'm expecting the trans output to be near 220-230. If I drop it closer to the temp of my thermostat (180), theres less heat the coolant has to absorb and potentially route towards the engine. I'm more focused on keeping the temp at 180 as opposed to cooling it off as much as possible. That's my theory anyways. Always easy to change if it doesn't work as intended
@MrTonyPiscatelle14 күн бұрын
@@sorta_stock There is most likely a design temperature for the trans fluid as well. I was just curious as to where the piggy back cooler would be most efficient.

500 bucks and I'll tell you my secret on how to not have valve cover leaks! Engine sounds great, now will it smoke all four tires?

@ Flat broke. It’s in pieces in my shop. And I have no idea when it will continue. But that’s ok man. Switching to the Duster.

Haha I always get a kick out of trolls. For starters... it's already on the road 😉. Secondly, this pickup has been 100% rebuilt mechanically within the last 6 months. What, do you think this is Motortrend? Lol
