Today i tried to but my n55 Engine back in my 135i but i couldnt get it back in because the Engine and transmission is leaned to the Right. Do you have any tips for me to install the Engine back in? Never did That before
@mr.nobody45532 жыл бұрын
Really nice work ! But you could've installed a lighter flywheel instead of the stock one and use less the impact gun because you're overtourqueing the bolts and will cause problems in the future, but overall looks great 👏👍
@PerformanceRebuilds2 жыл бұрын
We will be changing the flywheel but wanted to make sure the engines OK before we start buying new replacement parts.

Nice to see the car back together. You guys are skilled mechanics, but you should not be working on cars like this without referring to the factory shop manual (TIS). If you did that, you would know that the bolts on the front axle reinforcement plate are single use and are supposed to be torqued to angle. As I said in the previous video, I will be shocked if this engine doesn't use oil, due to the DIY hone job on the worn cylinder bores. I look forward to seeing an update.
@colinalawi2102 жыл бұрын
come to the rear world buddy. did you know that munufacturers reccommend changing the cars entire airbag system every 10 years? do you have this done? zee is an experienced mechanic. he knows what he's doing
@darylmorse2 жыл бұрын
@@colinalawi210 The reinforcement plate is structural. The bolts are not designed to be torqued more than once. Same for the connecting rod bolts. Single use bolts are not that common on these cars. Do you really think BMW would say a bolt was single use if they didn't have a reason? Not saying he isn't an experienced mechanic, but he cut a lot of corners in the engine rebuild, like when he used the crappy DIY hone on the tapered cylinders. If you haven't worked on these cars, you won't understand. I own one and I've done a lot work on it, including rebuilding the VANOS, another step that was skipped in the engine rebuild. Failure of the exhaust camshaft hub (which drives the VANOS pump) can take out the entire engine with no warning. The VANOS is the single biggest ticking time bomb in the S54 engine. The rod bearings are the second biggest problem with the engine. Rod bolts are always supposed to be replaced along with rod bearings. My car got recalled a second time after the first rod bearing recall to replace the rod bolts, along with another set of rod bearings, because BMW downgraded the original rod bolt specification from multiple use to single use. Do you seriously think BMW would recall the car a second time to change rod bolts at their cost if they didn't think it was necessary? If a connecting rod bolt breaks, it's the end of the engine, as you saw on the original engine, with a broken connecting rod. Speaking of airbags, you must know about the airbag recall. On my car, the first recall was for the driver side airbag. The second recall was for the passenger side airbag. It came in twice for the passenger side. Once to replace the original airbag with the same part number and a second time to replace it with a new part number. Again, BMW would not do this for no reason. (Regarding routinely replacing airbags, I've never been told by BMW or Mercedes Benz that an airbag should be replaced on any of my cars only because it's 10 years old and I've owned several of each.)
@hassenbeattie13392 жыл бұрын
mate they say one time use but its a load of shit. I've had mine on and off that many times and re used the bolts and its been fine for the 5 years I've owned the car had no issues whatsoever. youre a fool if ur gonna spend 50 bux on new bolts every time u drop the Reinforcement plate 🤣
