I work in a tech industry and was appointed to be a part of a rather large "task force" regarding the Y2K issue, and absolutely everyone knew it was bs and there was no real danger, it was more like a "better safe..." attitude, think we worked for about a year with this, some was travelling around to customers, others was simulating a "2000" scenario on systems, I remember I was contacted by worried customers, and I replied, "there is no clock in your equipment" On the eve of the 1999/2000 a large group of people had to stay sober, we where payed to not drink, and be available on the phone, and absolutely nothing happened, it was almost a little embarrassing, but prior to 2000 it was a big deal

Early on coders only used two digits for the year to save memory, they didn't see that as a problem since they figured all the code would be replaced well before 2000, they were wrong. Many systems that ran everything from banking to transportation were still using legacy code. They were afraid that when the date changed to 2000 the systems would think it was 1900 and all chaos would ensue, (fatal errors most likely). However a major push to update all the code during the year or two before 2000 got everything fixed in time, that didn't stop the fear mongering of course. I lived through this and felt zero nostalgia from that trailer at all, that's not how I remember the 90's but I wasn't a teenager in 2000 (Gen X'er).

zoomer culture is either built on the foundations of Gen x or millennial culture, or straight up co-opted by them. It's why they hate millennials specifically with a passion, a lot of their culture is heavily '''inspired'''' by the emo/goth/alt indie internet millennial scene that they probably grew up in, as in, experienced it, when they were younglings in front of their ipads. I was longing for another time during Y2K, but I was into my 30s so I was already an "old guy." For me the '90s were drugs, drugs, drugs, like for so many other GenXers. And the Y2K party I went to, I'd rather forget. Started fun, ended up a shit show. Thankfully, though, Y2K was a turning point for me getting my shit together. But that's also when I became chronically ill, so I was never able to capitalize on it. Wasn't able to start a career, and worse, never got married and had a family, which is my biggest regret in life. But I also became Catholic in 2005 which is the best thing I've ever done. Anyhoo... I don't care if Zegler is in a movie if the movie is good and she acts her part well. If I rejected movies because one or more of the actors says or does stupid or annoying things, I'd never be able to watch a movie.

Inevitable, is the word that comes to mind. Really guys, most of us did not panic and freak out about Y2K. Yes, it was a clock issue, or non-issue, rather. Movie looks fine as a teen comedy vehicle. But Zeggy's career, well that's another thing now ain't it? Is it coincidental that those who see no problem in self-mutilation also have no concept of brand-mutilation? I mean honestly that girl has a resting hateful face. Fairest in the land!

"Will Rachel Zegler spoil the fun of Y2K?" Isn't it obvious? She'll definitely make it flop miserably due to her being box office poison, no contest - just look at how her movies "West Side Story", "Shazam 2", "Hunger Games prequel", and the upcoming "Snow White" live-action remake turned out 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

That 'Hunger Games' flick was a HIT. She only had a supporting role in 'Shazam 2' and can't be blamed there. Her 'Snow White' flick didn't come out yet.

I remember being in church during Y2K and having massive anxiety....nothing happened and we drove home lol. This film screams Jonah Hill. It looks like an awkward Superbad. It might go well if they tell Rachel Zegler to learn to shut her mouth.

Movies fake, I was only properly conscious for 20min coming into the year 2000, spent the rest of the morning getting moved on by the police in the city centre. That was the true Y2K bug, everybody bluescreened

Thank God (literally) that Y2K didn't happen like it did in the movie. Had that happened, we would've been plunged into a post-apocalyptic dark age where many people would've gone insane and died due to failing & haywired technology. Mary wouldn't have been born had that scenario happened. How about one with 9/9/99.
