The song was written as a vehicle for environmental activism, with launching a fundraising effort on behalf of Brazil's indigenous tribes. Infrastructure, farming, mining, logging is destroying the Amazon. These Amazonian wildfires are a human-made disaster, set by loggers and cattle ranchers who use a "slash and burn" method to clear land. Feeding off very dry conditions, some of those fires have spread out of control. Also, Gojira is one of the grooviest metal arounds around today. This song is a killer.
@Need4Needle Жыл бұрын
also they supported APIB directly (joe at least went to a couple of manifestations), this is why there are those protestsì clips in the video and the speech track close to the end of the song. I'd love to understand what the lady is saying in that speech but it's too buried into the song, and i guess it's in the speaker's language.

@@TheCharismaticVoiceThat's the beauty of it all. Majority of society thinks that heavy metal is just noise or satanic, but it truly isn't. It can be the most beautiful sound in the world, with powerful messages and what's great about it all is that metalheads like ourselves are usually the nicest people on earth.
@Ivantheterrible81280 Жыл бұрын
Problem with activism is it’s all protests, no solutions. Get these loggers better jobs where they can make more money. Much of Brazil’s poverty and crime makes North America’s look like a vacation. If I had a family to feed and that was what I needed to do, I’d do it, despite my personal objections. They care about feeding their families & paying their bills. And it makes their economy overall a lot of money. So go there and find a solution. Because marching around with signs doesn’t do jack.

Ackshualy🤓, Joe's vocal are, at the very best, decent. Often, he screams in a way that hurts that hirts the singer's voice, which is the reason why we see him struggling lately. His voice just can't keep up with the abuse it's being put through almost without breaks. I do like Gojira, I'm not even saying that I don't enjoy the vocals. They are very listenable, just not technical. There are a lot of much less known metal vocalists that do much more impressive stuff
@jonnyj. Жыл бұрын
@@dmytrotsvyntarnyi799 Yikes. You clearly dont know shit about vocals. Did you even watch the video? Do you know why these HIGHLY trained vocalists were so confused? Do you know why Will, who is very experienced in metal vocals, couldnt figure out joe's technique? Joe's vocals are THE MOST technical metal vocals i know of. It is INSANELY hard to do pitched screams like him without immediately destroying your voice... which is why no one tries to imitate it. He did it for 20+ years, and still does it today. Meshuggah from the none ep had some cool pitched stuff, but now jens does a typical bland metal scream. Show me a metal vocalist today where you can't tell right away what technique hes doing. I'll wait. There's a reason every metal vocalist does some variation of a basic false chord/fry scream WITHOUT pitch. HInt: its not because its harder ;)

@MotorhitPL it was a deliberate "niche" choice on my side as the track is not as known as their subsequent work. The album version is truly underground, and I cannot say I enjoy it that much. Hearing from an experienced god-tier harsh vocalist on another harsh vocalist is fascinating. Even the way he talks about the sounds within the mix elevates the listening experience and makes me appreciate songs on a different level. I could listen to him describe music all day long.

That you can be a metalhead to such a degree that you're the vocalist in an actively touring group and have never heard gojira's albums blows my mind. I kinda just take it for granted that everyone's already familiar with how great they are.

Pretty pumped for this one. Saw Lorna Shore with Gojira and Mastodon in Reading, PA, and boy do they deliver BIG time!

I’ll never forget seeing Trivium, Lamb of God and Gojira at Lupos in 2006. Small venue. Crazy show. Gojira opened up the show and they were just an underground band that no one had heard of. Big props to Trivium and Lamb of God for giving them that opportunity to showcase their potential. You can clearly see what they have to bring now.

Oh hell yea, saw them recently on mega monsters tour with Lorna Shore and everyone killed it, but Gojira absolutely leveled the place they're so incredible live, hope there will be more Gojira reactions to come 🖤

I have just attended Tuska festival in Finland and saw Gojira for the first time. During the performance I was just thinking "How is he doing that?", then came home and saw your video. I was very excited you have the same dilemma 😅😅😅. I also saw Lorna Shore at the festival and Will was even more impressive than I expected. Such a brilliant frontman and amazing singer, it filled my heart with pure love and happiness to experience that. Your friendship is just gold!

1 A + E (skipping over a few 16ths in there to make the rhythm) is a great syncopation and honestly my favorite to jam to. It just flows so well and is just off enough to catch your ear. In percussion, there is a lot of jams and such you can doo with that poly rhythm.
