When you first covered this song I had been out of the death core genre for a long time. Kids, work, age and a wife that didn't like it kept me away. I watched your reaction and instantly new tho band was special. My son has autism and has never shown much interest in music. He liked metal but truly didn't care what was playing and never turned it on himself. Well I played this song for him. Now in just several months he is texting me new bands to listen to, he knows the names of band members he has become obsessed with metal. He's currently wearing an aversions crown t shirt lol. Point being if you hadn't covered this song I wouldn't have played it for my son and he probably still wouldn't care about music so thank you, you've literally changed our lives and given us something new to bond over.

"Locked in battle with a Boss" is the exact perfect way to describe this song. The epic operatic melody in the back definitely brings that vibe as he grunges his way through. She has a genuine love for the music and for understanding it. You see her body language and expressions as she reacts emotionally to it, and you can also see her analysing it and working out the mechanisms by which the sounds are produced. It's genuine passion and appreciation for the work that goes into the art. And honestly, I react more emotionally to the details than the end result. I love music, I love experiencing it, and a very large part of that experience is putting it all together and making it all make sense while I listen. I've shed a few tears to things that most anybody would probably find pretty odd. I'll be listening to some crust punk and just be like "they did exactly what they intended to do and did it in probably the best suited way. Beautiful." I get the same sort of thing from watching her analyze the music.

I'm super late to this party, but want to give some insight as a metal vocalist. 1) You mentioned his breath control. This is something that he has mastered. It's taken me a ton of practice to do this whole song in one take. He has one on his KZbin at this point. 2) Deathcore (this genre) has a tendency to overlay vocal tracks to develop a full sound and add punch as you see with low and high at the same time. You can generate what some people refer to as a "pig squeal" which can create both sounds at the same time, but nearly impossible to understand the words when they use this technique. 3) Several of his highs are using "tunnel" vocals. Typically this involves using a bending of the tongue to distort the airflow which is why it can be harder to understand his words because he is having to bend his tongue in ways that result in pronunciation taking a backseat. 4) Lows have a tendency to have more resonance just like when a person sings with their chest voice you are essentially using that same aspect when doing low screams.
@izzate72 жыл бұрын

Definitely agreed, but it being one of the most divisive musical performances ever is a little much. This is literally a genre of music with vocalists that sound like this, check out Dickie Allen for example.
