Seeing someone that understands the impressiveness of creating these different sounds and getting *excited* over a metal song that most people would dismiss as talentless screaming and noise makes me so incredibly happy. In 20 years of listening to deathmetal, deathcore, hardcore and so on, I've never heard a voice like this. Watched the video where his vocalchords were examined to understand what he does while singing. Insane. You'd expect him to have actual damage by producing these kind of sounds, but no. As I recall the doctor actually said that he does it in the most healthy way possible as in .. No damage at all. Fascinating! Loving this!

I watched your reaction and instantly new tho band was special. My son has autism and has never shown much interest in music. He liked metal but truly didn't care what was playing and never turned it on himself. Well I played this song for him. Now in just several months he is texting me new bands to listen to, he knows the names of band members he has become obsessed with metal. He's currently wearing an aversions crown t shirt lol. Point being if you hadn't covered this song I wouldn't have played it for my son and he probably still wouldn't care about music so thank you, you've literally changed our lives and given us something new to bond over.

She has a genuine love for the music and for understanding it. You see her body language and expressions as she reacts emotionally to it, and you can also see her analysing it and working out the mechanisms by which the sounds are produced. It's genuine passion and appreciation for the work that goes into the art. And honestly, I react more emotionally to the details than the end result. I love music, I love experiencing it, and a very large part of that experience is putting it all together and making it all make sense while I listen. I've shed a few tears to things that most anybody would probably find pretty odd. I'll be listening to some crust punk and just be like "they did exactly what they intended to do and did it in probably the best suited way. Beautiful." I get the same sort of thing from watching her analyze the music.

Having just watched the video of Willl getting the camera down his throat, your explanations here just take on a whole new level of meaning and I understand them so much more. It's absolutely mind-boggling and so fascinating to now have real world documentation of what it looks like when he makes these sounds. Thanks to both of you for making that happen! Honestly one of the most interesting KZbin videos I have ever seen.

I'm super late to this party, but want to give some insight as a metal vocalist. 1) You mentioned his breath control. This is something that he has mastered. It's taken me a ton of practice to do this whole song in one take. He has one on his KZbin at this point. 2) Deathcore (this genre) has a tendency to overlay vocal tracks to develop a full sound and add punch as you see with low and high at the same time. You can generate what some people refer to as a "pig squeal" which can create both sounds at the same time, but nearly impossible to understand the words when they use this technique. 3) Several of his highs are using "tunnel" vocals. Typically this involves using a bending of the tongue to distort the airflow which is why it can be harder to understand his words because he is having to bend his tongue in ways that result in pronunciation taking a backseat. 4) Lows have a tendency to have more resonance just like when a person sings with their chest voice you are essentially using that same aspect when doing low screams.

Travis from Cattle Decapitation is a master of this technique with the tongue. Will is nailing it here.

She perfectly described this song, it's an experience. Listening to this with no judgment will make you honestly feel things, it's an emotional and physical moment. Even though it's not everyone's cup of tea, the fact that this is easily one of the most divisive musical performances to ever exist has to be acknowledged and appreciated.

Definitely agreed, but it being one of the most divisive musical performances ever is a little much. This is literally a genre of music with vocalists that sound like this, check out Dickie Allen for example. This song just REALLY exploded for some reason which is why you see the divisiveness, because people that would never listen to this style of music are hearing it through social media. That’s not to say Will Ramos is not phenomenally talented though. He is absolutely one of the best in the genre right now.

I think my first breakdown was a great intro to the heavy shit. It was Demolisher by Slaughter to Prevail and after listening to that song for the first time I have discovered so many metal bands and subgenres and I have been in love ever since. An underappreciated culture and form of music unfortunately.
