Will renting a Tesla on Turo pay for the car?

Buying a Tesla is no doubt expensive, but how much of that cost could you offset by renting it out a few days on Turo?

Tesla Bob did the smart thing to wrap his Tesla by his daughter. I won't be surprised if his daughter end up making more $$ from this than his Tesla fleet. A wrap is $2k - 7k. Just the amount of free advertising going around for his daughter.. haha.. very smart family business idea.

Hey Ellie, so since this is your primary job, you should be able to write off a portion of your transportation cost as a business expense, and that will lower your cost to buy that Tesla and don't forget, next year the tax incentive will be restored under the President’s “Inflation Reduction Act,” and so you might wanna run the numbers, to find out if the cost of buying a new Tesla is advantageous, and if you rent your new Tesla on Turo, that's just more earnings for you as well. I rented my Tesla on Turo for a while... I wouldn't do it again. 1) Turo support is terrible. They just don't care about the car owners and it shows in every way. 2) Renters who would take the battery down to 1-2% during road trips. 3) Renters who would drive on toll-roads and act like I should just cover those charges for them. The bill is coming in the mail to YOU...surprise!!! Same thing if they got an automated violation (like a red-light camera or speeding) ticket in the mail - it's coming to YOU! Surprise!!! Have fun dealing with all of that BS. 4) Renters locking themselves out ... all the time. Thankfully, the Tesla app makes it easy to remotely unlock for them but do you want to get calls / text messages at all hours of the day? 5) Having to explain the Tesla to each Renter - it's easily 15-20 minutes to cover the basics. Believe me, it gets old really fast. 6) At the time, I had free Supercharging but I'm not sure how a Renter is going to setup a Tesla supercharging account on your vehicle (and I sure don't want to pay). Imagine having to talk each Renter through that process. I think I'll stop there...my blood pressure is escalating just remembering all of this stuff.

I rented our Model 3 on Turo last summer, the renter played with the FSD which made me very uneasy. In addition my safety score was reduced to 83 from 95 which could affect my Tesla insurance premium in the future. I won’t rent on Turo again unless it’s at a very high rate.

Interesting stuff! But we need to dig into the free supercharging revelation. Does Bob have that on all his vehicles? If not, is there a way of ensuring the customer pays? If so, that must be a huge competitive advantage over people entering this business today! One thing I've learned from Tesla ownership is fuel savings over ICE if you supercharge and pay for it all the time are relatively modest - the big savings come with home charging or, better, free charging!

First time saver. Like on Busses an instructional video is played before departure. Having a video cover all the things you do when interacting with renters you make into a video they must before starting the car. Does not matter if the person watched it right before getting. They must watch again while sitting before taking ownership and maybe add edocument to sign after watching the video. That is its not to watch it before hand because it leads straight to signing the edocument that releases the car.

I once drove a Model S 2013 which I rented from Turo from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon in initial 2017. I thought I can make it in one full charge and back according to my initial calculation. But when I drove it mid of the route, I realized that Model S 2013 couldn’t make it. I had to stop by in a supercharger station to charge it. But I guess nowadays the new Models should improve its mileage a lot. By the way, the cars listed on Turo nowadays are usually so cheap, by which I can see those Models are usually from $80 to 150 per day in your video.😳 I rented Model S 2013 and that owner charged me around $200. And the car already the cheapest one I can find in 2017.😅 I’ll definitely rent it from Bob if I fly to Florida.😄

I have never driven a Tesla before much less been in one. When I go on vacation next month I want to rent a Tesla. The one I looked at is $65 a day for a model Y with a 1,600 mile limit, which were going to be in the city so no issues there.

Many of us, got our Tesla(s) for FREE! $7,500.00 from the federal government for taking delivery on or before 31 December 2018 along with other incentives from the state, county, city and electric company. My energy company gave us $2,500.00 plus reduced my electric rate by 50%. This is called Time Of Use or TOU/Electric Vehicle Rate Rider or EVRR plus free lifetime supercharging. Five for one stock split in August 2020. Three for one stock split in August 2022. You should of bought Tesla stock in January to July 2020 between $29.00 to $100.00 per share!

What would happen if a customer uses FSD in your Turo rental, and ends up killing someone? Who sues who? Who's insurance would pay? Who's fault is it? Eventually, we will find out. Is it responsible to allow casual uses to use FSD when it isn't level 4 or 5?

Do rent one if you can even only for a day or rwo. I'm retired too and hired a Tesla and went on a trip. It was around 400 miles over 4 days in a model 3 standard range. It was fantastic and such a pleasure to drive with superb performance. Don't miss out, treat yourself

No… Turo most locations will not pay for it at this point. Although, Ellie, have sub channel here called “Turo Tesla from Ellie”…. Maybe combo of Ellie channel and rental income would do it! Run the math. Oh, and you could have a feature called “bonehead renters of the week” 😂 Will need PPF and ceramic. Good luck with your decision. Love the commons license background music.
