@BayAreaHoops4153 жыл бұрын
A lot of their arguments didn't have much to do with individual player ability or have little to any proof to back up what they're saying. Max's final point was using AIs cultural impact and that alone gives him the edge, what does that have to do with who is the better basketball player. Allen Iverson was an amazing volume scorer, he would score a lot and take a ton of shots similar to Westbrook. But that was about it, his defense was pretty bad due to his size (steal leaders means nothing Harden and Curry lead the league in steals) he would gamble in passing lanes a lot. He wasn't the best passer and his career in general has been slightly overrated. If it wasn't for that 1 Finals game his ENTIRE legacy would look substantially different. Iverson got 38% from the field the rest of that Laker series, following that game 1 performance he shot 10-29. Why I think Westbrook is a clear better basketball player is Westbrook makes up for his inconsistent shooting everywhere else. Iverson didn't have that ability. If we are talking peaks, peak Westbrook had one of the greatest seasons ever and lets not forget, the 76ers success came from their defense. They were a top 5 defense every year, their whole style of success was built off defense not Iverson. If we want to account for longevity, impact, box creation, WS, DWS, PER, VORP, OBPM, BPM, eFG%, tS% Westbrook beats him. Facts > Nostalgia...

He was literally ICONIC, and so so criminally underrated. You can talk about how russ puts his heart out every day in the court and i respect that, but you’ve clearly never seen AI play, with the size and height that he has, he is one of the very few players who play their game as if it was their last. @@mudathirumar9902 6th man of the year averaging 18 off the bench in instant offense. Went to the All Star game 8 times after 2012, including 2013 once he became a starter. But yea, in 2012 he sucked I guess. They give out 6th man of the year awards to guys who have no impact. Was it in the off season in 2012 into 2013 he became good? That's when he became a good player? If you have to get into the semantics of what years he was an all star, to make a petty point, it shows you are bitchmade, and have no argument. Harden was the same player in 12 as he was in 13, only difference was minutes and shots. In fact for per minute stat, his 2012 was better than 2013. Weird how that works. Harden was a superstar and household name in 2012. Widely considered to be the reason OKC lost to Miami. He didnt produce his regular numbers. Neither did Russ. Durant was the only one who lived up to the moment.

Uhhhh.....check 2017 season. Playoffs. He had no squad. Would be leading the game when Russ was in and when he went out the rockets would go nuts because no one else was there at the time. Sabonis was not sabonis as he is today and Oli didn't hit his stride yet.

Russell Westbrook has hindered teams from success. He's a great athlete with a low winning IQ.

AI would average at least 37ppg in today's game. He would simply be unguardable and unstoppable. He played in an era when the pace was at an all-time low. Now we have around 10 more possessions a game compared to the era of Iverson. He would smoke everybody and every team.

Allen Iverson is better in my opinion from watching him since 2001. People used to say he was the best NBA player for about 3 years, that's how explosive he was.
