That little smirk Carlton gives after Will says "It's a tan" always gets me. I don't agree much with Carlton's politics, but I always admired how true to himself he was. He didn't need validation about "how black" he was or wasn't, he knew his identity and took pride in it. And while he might be a little naive sometimes about the prevalence of racism in American institutions (ex., the police), I have no doubt that this version of Carlton would have kicked the shit out of one of his white teammates if he heard him rapping the n-word. Dude was a badass in his own way :)
