It doesn't matter. You don't get to physically attack someone for being offended by words. Worse case, Chris was insensitive; best case, Will should be charged with assault. Will attacked someone he knew would not defend themselves. But was it an insult?? “Love ya Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2”... She's an actress, she acts in movies - this was a humorous and possibly affectionate suggestion for a movie she could star in that could FEATURE her as a strong beautiful woman. Walking up there, making a scene to slap someone because of a joke was way beyond inappropriate. It was childish and I'm sorry but I wouldn't want someone 'defending my honor' in this way. I would have been terribly embarrassed if my husband did something like this. Will doesn’t deserve to be cancelled but he should face consequences for that assault.

Yes and it was purely a reference to her shaved hairstyle which was similar to that of Demi Moore’s in the original film. Plus Jada, Will Smith and fellow artists knew that in these kind of shows, they usually pick names as joke references, as is usually with most stand-up comedies too. People act as if they never watched any stand-up comedies before. So should we slap Russel Peters and Gabriel Iglesias for their racial jokes? Most comedies have references to race, cultures, religions, colour, accents etc. because these topics are easy to be related to human psychology. Rock’s joke wasn’t even humiliating or vulgar in any ways.

Funny... Normally when one commits assault, some guys in blue run up on you, throw you onto the ground, put metal bands tightly around your wrists, make you sit on the floor for an hour, drag you into a car, bump your head off a car rooftop, throw you into an uncomfortable backseat, take you to a place where there are weirdos, drunks, and cons, ...and then throw you in with them... If you are Will Smith? You get awards for EVERYTHING, even slapping people around. I better never hear about how "white folks are X-whatever," ever again from him, because those mass of "white" people let him get away with literal assault.

@Adele No one made fun of anyone's appearance. If anything comparing Jada to a young and beautiful shaved head tough as nails GI Jane as portrayed by Demi Moore was nothing but a compliment. IF he wanted to insult her then he could have said that she looked like the next Gollum in Lord of The Rings. Now THAT would have been an insult that is actually worthy of a slap. I still wouldn't advise it though because the person you run across may not be poised and dignified enough to handle it like Chris Rock. You would go down as far as someone's respect level for you if you hit someone for saying something just because you didn't like it. If they struck back and you both got to rolling around then BOTH of you would end up devaluing yourselves. However, IF they handled it with the aplomb of Chris Rock then, yes, they would end up getting the most respect and sympathy. You are still walking the same earth, true enough, but the looks that people now give you hits totally differently than the looks they give to the person hit.
