The fact that Chris went on with the show, few seconds right after the slap, taught a lesson to the whole world on how to ignore and move on. It only takes a few seconds to make a hero or a villain, in this case we have seen both. Edit : Will has his own reasons.

He had no other choice. One. He was in the wrong and he knew it at the end of the day. And really more relevant, smith would destroy him in a fight. If he would have conducted himself any other way he would have just endured more pain and more damage for himself. What's really more alarming as I am watching this is that everyone in the crowd knew it was fucked up. Everyone groaned and there was an awkward silence. He even defended his joke. Frankly I am saddened and disturbed that people would justify one man publicly making fun of another man's wife. More so that they would condemn another man for defending his wife. People might think to behave better if they knew they could get rapped in the Beezer for talking crap about someones wife.

I cannot believe the insane level of poise and composure that Chris Rock displayed. I know he’s had decades of practice as a stand-up comedian and actor, but I don’t think that most people would be able to calm themselves and a crowd in under a minute. Chris Rock and Will Smith demonstrated their true characters that night. As a native New Yorker, I could not be any prouder of Chris Rock, he really kept cool under pressure, what a guy!

You will never hear the raucous applause from the supine masses cheering your greatness. If a boy like you won an Oscar you'd probably put it in a case and cherish it, men like me and Will throw Oscars away because if we ever feel the need to hold one we will just win another. Yeah that was a meltdown. Had nothing to do with Chris either. Will needs to get some shit off his chest or make some changes. Even tho he's one of our heroes, he is human too. He needs to keep that in mind.

I always liked Chris Rock a lot, hes a funny dude, funny af sometimes. But i must confess i admire him now for standing there like a man and not losing it despite his evident confusion and sadness after taking that smack and being humilliated in front of the world.

My respect for Chris Rock just grew 1000% percent. What a pro. Carries on and even tries to crack another joke despite being obviously and very understandably distressed.

this is a typical image of what we blacks do to ourselves, both Chris and Smith are wrong you can't run down a man's wife infront of him and you can't smack someone's dad on tv that was so wrong...and these guys are both blacks supposing to be holding each other up they both are damn idiots!!!

The joke was pretty mild and tame compared to the way a lot of them get absolutely roasted at awards ceremonies. If Smith had just stayed in his seat, Rock would have moved on, presented his award, and the joke would have been forgotten by today. Instead, everyone will remember Smith's completely unacceptable behaviour...we do our best to teach our children that this is not okay, and yet we had to watch a grown man acting like a bratty 5 year old who just does what he wants.

100% You could tell he was still trying to comprehend WTF just happened. He even messed up talking about the next category. Watching this again knowing what happened is pretty sad. Will Smith deserves all the hate and negative criticism he gets. He ruined the awards show not only for himself but all the other actors/people that were to be getting an award that night.

He deserved it sorry! There should be some limits in this f @@@@ life you cannot joke with everything and 1 of these is someone's health! So yeah he got what he deserved! Why people call him a hero exactly??? For being rude and after for shutting up????? Very brave 🤣

@@RinaKate I'm confused on what part of her health he was making fun of. Was it the GI Jane joke referring to her bald head? Oh boohoo. There was no foul in that. I didnt even know she had an hair issue. If he had joked about the entanglement. Then yes that would have been out of line. Another venue maybe..a roast even. Rock said nothing that ANY other comedian would have said. Hell most of the time those jokes are done over the monitor. WS is just so fragile at the moment in his personal life he does not know how to hold his emotions. He should have consequences to what happend that night....just like any of us would. Stop trying to justify his childish behavior and call it for what it was.
