That area of the West Philippine Sea is part of the Exclusive Economic Zone of the said nation. China have been taking shoals, reefs, and islands that is heavily contested and building military structures to control the maritime industry and taking its resources far away from its mainland. The UNCLOS at the Hague awarded the contested area to the Philippines because China's claim is ridiculous and without proper historical backing other than use of force. When the former US Naval Base moved out from the Philippines in 1993 it didn't take long for China to start building in those areas sometime in 1995. It is when the US was away to guard those waters that China moved in and through propaganda extended their territory. Beijing is taking everything by force, but consequences comes in many different forms. It is a flashpoint nearing to detonate.

Even the insurgency problem of communism in the Philipines was backed by the communist Chinese from mainland china. If there is a law that will govern countries that claim the area, it is the UNCLOS wherein China is one of the signatories as well as the claimant countries. Everybody has historical claims but these are overturn by UNCLOS in order to maintain peace in the region and it is under the 200 nautical mile EEZ of the Philippines where China is trying to claiming.

The only reason I see why China had the guts to seize territories inside the EEZ of the Philippines is because their armed forces are strong now. Their army are millions and their warships and fighter planes are very numerous. This is what Germany and Japan did during world war 2. They grabbed territories because their army was strong. Germany has thousands of U-boats in addition to fighter planes and over 13 million soldiers. So is Japan with 6 million soldiers, good fighter planes, submarines and huge warships. But I believe that a plan with bad intentions never succeeds and history tells it.

Taiwan is an island, any manuvers or submarines approaching the island is detected by radars and satillites, Taiwanese soldiers can station behind and front of the mountain nearby Japan, Philippines and Saipan for resupplying. Anything intercepted by radars can destroy easily by long rage... Be smart enough and think of your futures. don't make any conflicts in south asean sea, stay in your own territory, don't encroach of island isn't yours, these islands didn't make you wealthy nor a safety by militarising those islands, you just waste your wealth cos they are open space, low lands, just water can easily wash out and these are contested with so many nations.
