As a grade 1 circuit there's also Fiorano, but that one is a Ferrari-owned track (considering how much Ferrari suck this year, a gp there is basically impossible). As a grade 2 circuit there's Misano (MotoGP, they hosted Alpha Tauri tests), Vallelunga (Superbike and Touring, they hosted many F1 teams' tests) and Adria (Formula 3). ​@@metro3313 T1 and T6 are gonna be DRS zones so there's gonna overtaking there and from T9 to T11 it's flat out in F1 so if a car is close a move could be on there with another at T13. If they do use the chicane for T1 which i hope they do it's gonna setup T6 even more, But don't forget Portimao is steep i've been there for MOTO GP and my god it's basically Spa of the Algarve and is more technical than people think.

As a brazilian, Ímola will always be remembered for Senna's death for us, it's something you can't change. But like Tommy said it, we lost drivers at many circuits, and we keep racing in those circuits. Le Mans in 1955 took the life of 80+ people, and yet we still go there to race for 24h. Monza in 1961 killed a lot of people and we still race there. We respect and remember the history of Ímola's circuit, but motor racing'll always be a dangerous sport, life goes on.

If you're going 300+ km/h, you can die, and the drivers know this. The tecnology helps us minimize this risk, but it never fully goes away.

If the run off area is 5 meters short, could cause a fatal crash, if one car spins and the other behind can't avoid it, could cause a fatal crash. I'm not saying that the sport it's as dangerous as it was in the 60s or 70s, it's A LOT more safer nowadays, the chances of a fatal crash it's minimal, but it's still dangerous. And the adrenaline is what make people enjoy it, just like skydiving or rafting.

According to reports, Imola has a limited number of noise days per year and they only have 2 remaining in their allocation for 2020. Also, a 2 day event allows for more travel time from the Algarve.

I think the reason Imola is a two day weekend is due to noise restrictions. I hope they just do one 60/90 minute practice session, then of course qualifying and the race.

16:43 Actually, at the moment the tracks get payed to host a F1 GP by the FOM. The FOM does that in order to put together a calender of 15-16 races, which then places the TV hosters under obligation to pay the full amount for their TV rights. Normally, the tracks would pay their fees from the ticket sells, which is now obviously impossible. If the FOM would still insist on their money, there wouldn´t be any races.

I'm pretty sure Imola stayed on the calendar until 2005? Also, if we stopped racing at circuits where drivers had died, we wouldn't have many places left to go. Not to mention we still go to Suzuka after 2014. Tracks not on the calendar would include: Suzuka Imola Montreal Zolder Monza Mexico City Kyalami Watkins Glen Zandvoort Nürburgring Monaco Spa Indianapolis And more besides

Istanbul Park is owned by the guy who also owns Intercity Rent-a -car. So there are mostly new cars waiting to be fleet rented, sitting there. That being said, the track has parking for a lot of cars and no one needs vast parking facilities this year.

My dream f1 calendar: Sepang International Circuit Malaysia, Marina Bay Street Circuit Singapore, Suzuka/Fuji in Japan, Rodriguez brothers circuit Mexico, Interlagos Brazil, Indianapolis Infield and Oval circuit USGP, Montreal Canada, Valencia Street Circuit Spain, Silverstone UK, Nurburgring (European GP), Hockenheimring (German GP), Spa Belgium, Monza Italy, Spielberg Austria, Hungaroring Hungary, Mugello (final race) in Italy. Hopefully the aero rules are good for overtaking and fast-paced, aggressive hotlaps, if this calendar becomes a reality because Valencia is good only if the season has a lot of competitive cars at the front.

I’ve driven in a few sim-racing league races at Algarve, it is incredibly challenging but incredibly fun, I can’t wait to see modern f1 cars tackle it! Also, in those races, the DRS zones were down the main straight and the straight after turn 4 towards the turn 5 hairpin.

Hi everyone, I'm italian. One of the reason why the Imola weekend is just two days long originally is quiet ridiculous actually. Nearby the circuit there are different houses, and the people that lives there always complain about the noise produced by the engines, so the short weekend is the answer to their request to reduce the days of racing. In fact there are lots of motosport categories that race in Imola, but almost everyone has just two day in the weekend. Then I also believe that the FIA wants to experience the short weekend, as you say, for the foreseeable future.

This F1 package loves elevation changes, slow to mid speed corners and high speed straights. Portimao is PERFECT except for the last turn, which reminds me of Barcelona turn 3 with a straight afterwards, can easily be fixed by setting the DRS detection zone before the turn.

How cool would it be if each country that can swap circuits each year like Monza/Imola/Mugello, Paul Ricard/Le Mans/Magney Cours. Catalunya/Jerez, Nurburbring/Hockenheimring plus many others. I know this is a rather weird hypothetical: If Hockenheim- and Nürburgring would return alternating, but only if a third track in Germany joins them in it (so each track comes on the calendar every 3 years), which grade 2 track would be most likely to upgrade to grade 1 to hold an F1 race every 3 years: -Lausitzring (aka Eurospeedway Lausitz) -Sachsenring -Oschersleben I excluded the Norisring because even if it was grade one the track would be too short. Also excluded different Layouts of Hockenheim-/Nürburgring for obvious reasons. My guess would be the Laustizring (using the Grand Prix layout)

I think Imola will surprise you. They're flat out from Rivazza all the way down to Tamburello now that they reconfigured the track sans Bassa Chicane for F1. And I think the Villeneuve Chicane (Ratzenberger chicane) could possibly become flat out, especially for Mercedes. Love the F1 mambo #5 outro!

I dont love the Nürburgring GP circuit but it's not terrible at all, and it's Germany in October, so rain is more than a possibility. Portimao could be a Barcelona 2.0 judging from the track map but I know too little about it. Imola will be great for nostalgia but a horrible race I fear.

16:45 - I only know about the Hungaroring, but it makes contract with F1 for several years in a row in advance, so it can't be simply just excluded for a year. Also it's not just the track's money on the line, but taxpayer money as well, since usually the current government is in for paying part of the bill for hosting the F1 weekend.

Portimao is great and built for F1. €195 million spent on it. It's a great complex go there every year. With a Karting track with FIA Karting championship and on site Hotel. It should permanent race on the calendar in the future.

Nurburgring today said they would prefer alternating the German GP than being a full time track. Makes sense financially, and it mixes things up. Keep Monza, Silverstone and the north american tracks and Japan, and alternate the rest.

Sepang is my favourite track layout. If most races are in Europe then it may as well be the F1 European championship.

i'd put for them as POOR-TIH-(brittish)MAN-OH or POOR-TEA-(brittish)MAN-OH... (seriously, makes me cringe when english speakers get the accents wrong... it is not that hard, especially for the brittish that use these sounds on their words already like man, apple,manhole... i can understand americans geting it wrong, because their pronunciation is all f-ed up tho... the worst offender of the bunch being how they pronounce São Paulo...)

Nürburgring has its own weather, not so much on the GP circuit but imagine nordschleife you can have sunshine at the start and a whole lotta rain at breidscheid , eifel weather can be unpredictable.. lets see what happens
