Will the Champion radiator fix the overheating?

Doorthy, our Belvedere overheated badly going to her first car cruise so we're going to upgrade the radiator.

You know there's one thing that's always over looked on big blocks the thermostat housing... there was a high volume housing used on motorhome big block to increase cooling flow it was basically a hogged out housing... the stock one had like a 3/8 by pass hole the high flow was off the chart! that allowed more water to flow from pump with. A high volume pump and a heavy duty cooling radiator with a 7 blade fan and clutch should cool very well.. The electric fans would be a plus here as well...you can modify a stock housing to flow more water with a carbide bit and a die grinder.

I put a very similar fan on my 47 Ford last year. Very happy with it. A bit concerned about those slip and brackets… But we will see how the last in the long run. Great episode. Keep rocking it brother

Great video Johnny! I just put one of those Champion radiators in my Charger. The radiator is great but I was disappointed to find out the stock fan shroud won't fit and I'll have to pay nearly as much as I did for the Radiator for one of their shrouds.

Me too Tony. I used a 70 Charger fan shroud on my 69 Coronet wagon with a 26” radiator. I had to trim and flex the shroud a little to get it to fit but it’s pretty close. I haven’t got the car on the road yet so I have no idea how well it works.

Nicwe work Jonny...I overquoted on the radiator in my Barracuda...when it got here I was lucky it fit between the chassis rails...B body oarts in A bodies...LOL...Its wider than the hole like yours...I havent cut my core support yet and might not, I think the added volume has fixed the issue straight up...I like the electric fans and that plate...might be on the agenda...just so I can get the engine driven fan off...it weighs a lot :)

Nice! How to determine how many lbs the cap should be on the radiator?

I would follow what the Manufacturer recommends. Champion says to use 13 lbs caps on their radiator.

It’s been okay. But it’s not bullet proof. It failed when stressed in the Part 2 video. But under normal driving I haven’t had any issues. But it hasn’t been super hot lately.

Get rid of that champion radiator and re core your original copper one and put 2 14inch spal fans … bleed the radiator for bubbles and use distilled water with 2 bottles super coolant and u will never have an issue 👍

I’ve never heard of Super Coolant. I’ll have to check it out.
