I love when you do these deepest shades because I feel like these forces these brands that watch youtuber reviews and actually extend d their shade range to the point where no one has to mix foundation just to get their perfect shade. It’s 2018 and the shade range sucks badly.

Elizabeth Saccoh honestly like girl my rule of thumb now is “if Nyma can’t wear it you don’t have enough shades bye”
@sages9996 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Saccoh some people may always have to mix though. i'm a "tan" in most foundations but i still have to use two of any shade to get a match close to me because i'm yellow and olive and it's hard to get a perfect tone match.

RedVelvetCupcake I mean if Thts the case we would have to cut off like all drugstore brands cuz none of them did 10yrs ago they’re realizing we are here! & our voice will b heard. Even high end brands realize they need to have more nobody was doing what say fenty did from the jump this is now happening & not everyone is ballin shot callin and Thts not for everyone’s skin tone...we picking our battles out here while the Black companies are coming up

In my area, I find that they will initially stock the darker shades when a new product launches and it’s on the big display. Once it’s on the permanent display, all of the deep shades are clearanced out. I live in a suburb of Akron and Cleveland that is 97% white. If you are darker, you have to dig through old foundations in a clearance bin if it isn’t brand new... ridiculous!

@autumnmoore086 жыл бұрын
Alt Le Grande because I live close to 2 major cities where that isn’t the case... people from those cities do come here to shop. Also, there is something to be said for inclusion. Maybe they would sell more if they let it be known that it was available and that it was going to be on the shelf and not in a bargain bin all beat up.

I really appreciate the close up shots of the creasing and texture at the end! It’s so hard to tell how a product performs when you can’t actually *see* it. And I find the demographic explanation to be some bs. I do notice that drugstores in cities usually have better shade ranges than the ones in my smaller hometown, but the drugstores in the majority black areas are always the same as the majority white ones sooooooo
@Hannah-zw9ow6 жыл бұрын
Abigail I think that’s an issue with the manager maybe? Because stores do individually decide what to stock, so maybe the person ordering product in these stores has some sort of prejudice? I don’t know. I believe the demographic thing because around me it actually is like that, but I definitely see the comments saying it’s not like that everywhere so I’m inclined to believe it’s an issue with the managers in those specific stores

I feel you on the fact that retailers need to do better with carrying the darker shades when makeup companies offer them. Then sometimes the retailers carry them, but still do it in a trifling way. My sister lives in a fairly big city in the midwest. At the Walmart that’s closest to her house, they carry brands that cater specifically to women of color, great. However all of those brands are segregated from the more white/medium adjacent brands. The brown skin friendly brands are not only at the back of the beauty section, but the lights on the aisle have been out for over a year (even after the manager promised my sister he would get it fixed shortly after it happened, almost a year ago). How the hell are you supposed to be able to tell what a product looks like and if it might work for you if you can’t even see it?!? Meanwhile all of the aisles with the light/mediums shades are still fully lit.🙄

The shades are classed as light, medium, tan and dark with 10 in each category. I think they look lighter here because of the lighting, in other videos I've seen, they look a bit darker but could've made a few shades even darker than they did.

Aurora Hah yes! I have finally found a foundation that is too pale for me (Marc Jacobs ReMarcable foundation in Ivory Light) and it has been over 25 years of wearing make-up to find it. I'd really love for Nyma znd women with such deep shades to their skin to have that feeling. We just have to keep pushing for every release to have a palest of pale all the way through to a deepest of deep shade with everything in between. One day that will be normal if we keep demanding it from make-up companies.

You make a VERY valid point about drugstores and their shade range "depending on demographic." It is not true. I used to be a manager at a drugstore and the store I worked at was in a dominately white neighborhood so my shade would not be there. In my town where I lived where it's mostly Latin...the same drugstore chain STILL had the light shades! What kind of mess..........?!

I wish makeup companies would make as many shades for deeper and lighter skin tones as they do for light/medium and medium deep. It's like they think us pale girls should be good with a porcelain shade and deeper goddesses should be good with a standard yellow based colour named after nuts, coffee, or chocolate... Are we actually in 2018 yet??? It's like makeup companies are stuck in a beige, olive and bronze rut! Xx
@morganshottakes6 жыл бұрын
Charlotte Cundall they don't care about any of us at all.😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😭😭😭
@Tinx13166 жыл бұрын
Morgan Gould They should because they are certainly interested in our money! The issue is it would cost them loads in research, surveys/opinion/data collection... Then there is all the research and development in the lab, testing on employees and volunteers (if cruelty free) under different lighting and camera flash, paying makeup artists to come and test ease of application and to apply for ad campaigns... All before it comes to market.... And even if they make the shades, it isn't guaranteed that stockists will give precious shelf space to the entire shade range... Double or that if you have more than one type of finish.. Dewey, demi matte and matte finishes for example. It would be better if we could buy predominantly from Web based stores because they could ship directly from manufacturer or from huge warehouses... But we do have issues getting samples to colour match from Web based stores. For example I wanted to try Kat von d's foundation. I couldn't try it in store because our local store doesn't have a beauty counter and I couldn't get samples from their Internet sales team because they don't do testers. So I had to search for people selling tester pots of the foundation, make a determination of how reputable the seller was, and pay nearly £3.00 per tiny pot and postage for each on top. I had to buy about 7 pots containing approx 3 pumps of product. Only to find out I was light 42 neutral... Yeah about one shade up from a stark white sheet of paper! Lol. Then I had to go back to the UK vendor and purchase the full size once I found my shade. But the good news is that they had a beauty sale on that weekend! I am also having a mare over certain brands that sell in the UK but are making certain items (maybe one or two items they know are going to be great sellers) exclusive to their company store in a foreign country... Yes we love the shipping, import tax/vat/customs handling fees we have to pay on top of the price for supporting their brands grrr!. Xx
