Great video I don’t think you are to slow I like details people can fast forward if it bothers them. I worked as an apprentice at Rolls Royce the photo you showed in your first video was not Crew but Derby Niightingale Rd I worked there for four years.

This is so brilliant to follow. I enjoy your clear and short comments and your methodical approach to things. It's always a pleasure to watch you working on this fabulous car. As far as I know, it has a Zytek engine management system. This usually is the problem on these cars. If this is working well, you have won the battle.

Have the engine oil and oil filter be changed not to pump old sludge in the oil ways? First thing about the engine IMO.
@richard30046 ай бұрын
Great series, but bit quicker would be nice been about a month and it’s not even been fired up yet, personally I kept skipping through the 25mins of spark plugs. Get it started up and an oil change on next video then a good wash on it.
@davidevans60516 ай бұрын
I would have checked for sparks at the plugs before replacing them. Good luck with your project.

I think its a good thing that you show what you are doing in real time if you speed it up to much then we will miss things that are beaing done far to many car channels fly through on time laps whats the point of that. Anyhow love the content cant wait to see it starting up.

You did the right thing by removing the spark plugs and putting engine oil down the bores before cranking the engine. I reckon the engine will fire up on the button because you could smell petrol coming out of the spark plug holes after you cranked the engine.

Id have liked to know if there was a spark and if the fuel pump is working. No reason it wouldn’t fire up if you have both those things is there? - not that Im pretending to know what Im on about but it just all sounds and looks like it will run ok.

Pity about those screws. This is what happens when people use power tools and don't start the screws in the threads by hand first! At least it looks like the posts are hex bar and could be replaced, or removed to make tapping them and getting the swarf out easier. Nice video - you are doing what a lot of us dream about but never get to do for lots of reasons!!

I’d go for new oil and oil filter and drain the petrol and put new petrol in before starting, engine plus new oil round the engine when it’s been standing for years is a good idea. Good luck.

The condominium complex where my friend lives has a garage full of dusty Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, and you name it. People from overseas "park" their investments and may never drive them again. The absolute worse thing for a car is being parked with fluids left in, and sitting on the tires and left to rot. I'm amazed at the wealth, disposable income, and if you will is eventually discarded. Interior designer friends talk about small fortunes invested in the condo interiors, only to be ripped out in four or five years and upgraded.

Your car looks in very good condition other than the dirt. Any idea why it's stood so long? Glad you took the trouble to take out the plugs and lubricate the bores. Too many idiots on KZbin are gun-hoe about cranking an engine that's stood a while, with no clue as to the damage they may be doing. Maybe you missed a trick by not also pulling the fuse for the fuel pump? According to the first episode of the most recent Bangers and Cash Restoring Classics series where they were recommisioning a similar car, you should also pull the relay/fuse for the wipers and the gear selector on the Rolls to avoid potential mishap. The wiper motor crank arm can take your arm off it starts while reaching through it to access other parts. I agree with the other comments - an interesting project but the videos are a bit slow moving and I think you're being a little over cautious. Just do the basics and go for it. Lubricate the bores, turn the engine by hand if you can, check for a spark, get the old fuel out, add fresh fuel, check the oil and coolant and maybe the air filter if you want to and just try starting. Have an assistant to watch for fuel leaks and go from there.
