Ninja's recommendation of heat management is consistent with the anti-heat as the heated end of the spectrum. What people call 'cold' is more accurately 'absence of heat'. This is the same kind of contrast of energy with light and absence of light (called dark). With a smoker the cook is all about getting the pit up to temperature and holding it there steady. The frost vault is the same, Condition the vault to lower temperature (removing the heat from it) before adding equally as cold or colder items (to preserve the absence of heat). Because the moment you put warmer items inside, you are ADDING heat to an environment where it's been regulated down.

Yes, the more mass you have the less air. The less air, the better it stays cool and ice should last longer

How is this for road trips when it would be in the back of a hot car all the time? We usually end up buying 2-3 bags of ice a day with a regular cooler. The drawer would be perfect for all of our lunch supplies, and if it will keep ice while in the back of a car on road trips, then it would quickly pay for itself.
@DadGotThis6 ай бұрын
I did not find where it is advertised for “road trips”. Any cooler that is not cooled by power would struggle with that. I would venture to guess that the insulation would still help you reduce your ice consumption though.

I like the concept of this but already have a Pelican cooler when properly pre chilled the night before will keep ice for 7 days, no lie. It has good size wheels and pull handle and stainless steel hardware. Very expensive but worth it.

Dang 7 days! That is Awesome! I was happy with the 54 hours with me not even pre chilling the cooler. lol But all my coolers before this were $20 specials lol!!!

I have a 70qt Pelican. Make sure the ends of the rubber seal are touching. (Mine weren't) And I added a second seal. A "D style seal" from frost king. Helps out a lot. You could also probably get an insulated drain plug. Just a few upgrades that make the Pelicans even better.

I like the fact that you can add a lock on it. My ice only lasted a couple of days but it has been over 95 degrees out here and maybe I didn’t pre ice it too well

I just went on a 3 day trip, I did chill my frost vault before we left, I put 10 pounds of ice, 3 bottles of wine, and water bottles..in the draw I had fresh lobster meat in a glass container. A little mayo, it was all ice cold after 12 hours of driving. I refilled the ice the next day, added more cold drinks and in 90 degrees in my car for 2 more days, it was all still cold, the ice did melt, but the cooler and the draw stayed ice cold

What a great idea! A pull out drawer on the bottom. Keep the drinks in the ice and the dry goods dry in the bottom drawer. No fuss no muss. Ninja's engineers are in overdrive these days. Lot's of good products/ideas coming from them lately. Thanks for the review. Enjoy your cooler. 👍

Canxt take you seriously. You may want to READ the instructions. Pre-chilling a cooler has nothing to do with the content you are putting into the cooler. It is the first step. Icing the cooler down 12-24 hours PRIOR to adding content to the cooler. That is pre-chilling.
@DadGotThis6 ай бұрын
From the Ninja quick start guide. There are two sections about pre chilling. support.ninjakitchen.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/12993705702812 Section 1: "PRE-CHILL For best results, load the drawer with pre-chilled items." Section 2: "PRE-CHILL THE COOLER Before using, leave the cooler open in a cool space for a few hours or overnight. For even better results, fill with ice to lower the inside temperature. Drain when ready to use, then add fresh ice and pre-chilled contents." I am the first to admit I may not get everything right all the time but in this scenario I do not believe I was wrong. I read the WHOLE manual.

Yeah the business of filling up any voids in a cooler of any type is a tried and true technique for any type of of cooling task. Years ago when I did a lot of camping 🏕 I would place my frozen food in any generic cooler even a cheap styrofoam one add dry ice 🧊 on the top pack tightly with newspaper 📰 and the food would remain frozen for at least a week and a weekend was no sweat 😋
