Being from Ohio, I'm not used to seeing rocker panels and cab corners. Nor beds and bumpers that aren't swiss cheese. My company sent a 40k mile, 2004 3500 chasis dually plow truck to the scrap heap. Frame rusted off of both ends. Rear, where the dump bed pins mount and the front where the plow mount bolts to the frame. On a side note, there was a 940k mile truck for sale in the area. Impressed to see that.

Throw some ATF type f in it to clean the injections before replacing it will buy some time. If you end up doing that make a video on it show us if it cleaned up your smoking problem

That's not a bad idea. I thought about using a good bit of 2 stroke mix. I dont think it would clean. But maybe help free up any sticky injectors.

Heyyy, nice work!! A friend of mine owes a fuel business. He sells diesel, gas, propane to gas stations. He told me to run 1/3 bottle of Marvel Mystery oil with every fill up. Bro!!! I have a 04 LB7 and after doing that she runs like night and day! Sooo smooth and no smoke at anytime! I’ve been running it for 4 fill ups now and will continue for now on…!💪🏼

Grew up on square bodies. But my diesel experiences are limited to the 5.9 24V Cummins, 6.4 Powerstroke and both the 6.9 IDI and 7.6 I6 diesel engines. Most of these from working in Maintenance. Great truck. Head gaskets I hear are the only continuous problem on these engines no matter the year. Nice truck. I was impressed how clean the truck was before you gave it a bath. In my area of Missouri, these trucks are rusted out and all sound like a diesel. Even the gassers. 😊

That tool on 16:10 is the best when you have to remove the main crankshaft pulley. The part with teeth is to lock the flywheel and the nut is for the 12side front nut. The flywheel is locked thru the access metal cover in the bottom trans bell, driver side.

That motor has head studs I’d say the head gaskets have been replaced at 1 point nice truck👍 I just scored a 03 running 4x4 dually with a 190k the other day for 2800

If you take the bolt out of the thermostat housing it’ll bleed the air out of the system as you fill it with coolant.

For anyone wanting to get into diesels take a small amount of diesel put coolant in it in a pan and mix it round get use to the smell and feel do the same with diesel and oil so u know the difference between a broke injector and headgaskets

So I noticed while watching this the truck has some goodies. It’s got head studs a boost increase valve (which is the blue round thing in front of the turbo) the downpipe, the sound system and exhaust. It should be a good dang truck when it’s running.

Give me your thoughts on this, im looking at an 05 Single cab duramax that have a very clean fram especially for where i live up north. it is 5 grand single cab white, has no blowby and has very little rust. Also has 330k miles and will need fuel lines soon.

@ineedfriends6764 2005 I believe is the LLY wich has much easier injectors to replace. I had one with 370k miles and still ran amazing. I personally don't feel 5k is a bad price for a running and driving duramax. That's just my thoughts

From sitting maybe some injectors could be stuck. Try running a good cleaner through it and see if the injectors come back

You can check the ohm resistance through the injector plugs to see if any are bad. It should be anywhere from 0.00-0.05, if you see a resistance of like 50 it’s definitely bad.

So I have 2007 Chevy 2500hd classic with a lbz and Allison 1000 6 speed automatic and i have range shift inhibited I’ve replaced Internal harness and NSBU safety switch I still can’t figure it out

@kylereichert1987 I've actually had some what same issue. The round plug on bottom, pass side transmission ends up getting worn and leaking fluid, wire coating pulling back ends up shorting wires out. Hope I explained that ok lol. Not saying that's your issue. But cheap and easy to check

@zacharykelly3163 I built her few years back. She is a 1988 R30 was a 2wd, long bed, dually. I body swapped her onto a 2002 2500hd chassis. Independent front suspension. 4x4. Short bed. She has a 6.6 lb7 duramax diesel with a automatic allison transmission. 6" suspension lift. 24x14 wheels, 35" tires. I spent 3 years on and off building her. Daily driver.

To be honest man. What ever you can afford to get started. I personally like the 6.6 duramax. All years are decent. But everyone has their own opinion. I've had just about every generation duramax. But currently drive my 88 squarebody with a LB7 Duramax under the hood.

A base model gasser and same for a welder/generator. Put the money at bank, not at the bars.

If you have a stuck injector or clogged like I did in my LB7 I went to my local GM dealer and picked up a bottle of ACDelco Upper engine and fuel injector cleaner part # 88861804 , I checked my fuel trim level's on my CTS and they were in spec after about 1 hour of idling on the cleaner. You just route the input and return into a 2 gallon jug add the cleaner and let it idle 👍 Fixed my issues ! Taker easy 🏁⛽🛢️

@@SquareMax I did jump the gun while watching when you said it was smoking , So that was my suggestion hahaha But after you got it running and it was fuel knocking hard , Its definitely injector swap time 🤣 But as I said it did help with my fuel trims and hazing blue smoke at idle. 👍 Awesome videos man 🏁
