This is fire 🔥 I totally forget I was watching a short. After the 13 minutes I was so disappointed, I want more!! I want to see how their friendship develops I want to see their first day at school together. This film needs to be a feature.

I really like how this short established its tone and feel early on but didn’t stop there like so many films do. You were able to evolve and expand this tone, but then instantly refocus the story’s tone/feeling several times to reveal character depth. The feeling of realism and uneasiness coupled with great direction of your actors, editing and near perfect execution of revealing character depth without using a heavy hand approach. In the short span of its run time, your film builds the depth of the characters and makes an audience aware there is so much more going on with these characters and their story. You hooked me. I want to know more about the two main characters. His nickname of “The Machine” is a perfect choice. Machines are built for a reason. Machines exist to serve a purpose. Without that purpose the machine doesn’t exist. And all machines, even the best, break down at some point. Can it be repaired or is it beyond fixing? This would be an amazing feature film if developed and executed correctly. There is plenty of depth in the two main characters to make for an amazing feature that takes a unique approach at sport films and more specific movies about football. There are great football movies that dig deep into characters, but so many have so many characters that the true, very real life depth of a character has to be summed up in very few scenes and badly scratch the surface. A fast moving sports drama (and/or thriller) feature film that puts focus on those two characters while this big, harsh, uncontrollable world with great expectations exists all around them adds to the story, but it never becomes the focus unless absolutely necessary and only as long as necessary…would make for a very interesting and gripping movie to watch. I apologize for so much detail and assumptions. I’m a working screenwriter and when I see a great start to a story my brain automatically starts developing and expanding characters to use their full depth to drive the story. Plot points. Story beats. And so on as I’m sure you probably have the same type brain and understand there is no off switch when you must write and help develop stories every day. My point in posting this is to say great job on the film and I’d like to see more of the story if you guys ever develop and produce this project farther. It’s rare a short film grabs me and keeps my attention along with sticking in my brain for hours or days after watching it. Your film did all that. Keep up the great work and best of luck!

Really enjoyed this film! The entire film was gripping, but I absolutely loved the scene in the car! It was so understated, yet so revealing of his character. I dont know exactly how to put it, but something about the combination of that music and him eating by himself in the car, then feeling embarrassed from the girl to jumping to help stop that fight made me really empathise with him. And to top it off it also set up the big breakdown he has towards the end of the film. Really loved that scene!!!

Good good, I like to see echoes whenever I watch films, you echoed here in the scene with the two kids fighting and then the two runners fighting while the main character said get off me. That was really really cool and made me empathize quite heavily with him

Not much into football but i loved this short film... i am also a film maker, from Kenya. i liked the twist when the other character comes in and almost reaches Machines limit, then it becomes a race....then the fight, it escalated strangely but it was good...then the suspense at the end, nice one.

But the film was out right simple filmmaking done right. You have one character who pushes himself every second to the point of insanity. Possibly because he been bullied and now has opportunity to never feel weak again until he meets a stranger who is on the same level if not higher. But never needed to work as hard PERFECT!!!
