The elevators finally work on the free abandoned airplane! There were a lot of issues with the elevator, there were wrong parts and broken parts on the elevator mechanism. We got all of the issues worked out and the elevator works perfectly! We also flew down to Winchester, VA to check on the Saratoga engine, worked on the Austin Healey some more, and much more!

Dear Jason, It’s so good to see how you’re progressing with the Cessna 401 and it’s hard to understand that in the past this airplane wasn’t maintained with original replacements for parts they had to change so when the Cessna 401 will be finished she’ll fly as safe as she just rolled off from the production line in the years this type of Cessna was produced. I really love to see with how much efforts, dedication and love you’re bringing her back in the air. I realize there’s still a lot to do before this moment will arrive but I’m completely convinced that you will get this beautiful aircraft flying again in her full old days glory. I look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands

Great to see the 401 sitting on its wheels and the elevators moving. Like a lot of projects, it seems like nothing's happening for a long time because you take it apart and find all the hidden problems, and then suddenly everything's happening all at once. Looking forward to the rebuilt engines, the new interior, and the new instrument panel.

I want the Austin! You are moving fast on the 401. I've been doing some research on the Austin. It looks like it's a 67, which introduced some nice upgrades over the earlier Sprites and Midgets. It has essentially the same engine as the Classic Mini Cooper. A couple of the Mini companies are offering EFI parts for that engine. Some really interesting upgrade could be made to the Sprite. Someone is going to get s really special car.

Honestly, I'm feeling a sense of panic about being stuck in that tail. The last time I was in a space even remotely close to that tight was in my mom's attic, and I nearly got stuck there. When I was younger (and in much better shape) I had no issue with that sort of thing. Now that I'm old and have gray hair developing everywhere, it's a whole lot of "nope".

Thank you for another Rebuild Rescue 401 rebuild fix. You guys are really coming along nicely with that airplane. It’s going to be way cool to see her fly. I grew up in Dayton OH and lived just across the street for several years as a young boy from Wright-Patterson AFB and the current site of the Air Force Museum. That’s where and when my love affair with aircraft began. Wishing you all the best with the 401 project. Blue skies and tailwinds gentlemen from a Buckeye transplant in Central Florida. Hey ya just gotta bring the 401 to the Sun-n-Fun fly in event held every year in Lakeland FL at Lakeland Linder airport in the month of April. Be safe guys.

@@robbienorton9522I know people who have restored aircraft and have just helped a friend disassemble and Cessna C172G to be moved to his home 9 hours away from were I live as he is going to restore. To do it properly restoring aircraft takes a lot of time to do it right. For instance in Australia the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) who have lots of volunteers and funding have taken year to restore their aircraft and they have more resources then Jason does.

So I've been following this rebuild from day one - was super excited to see something that no one else would ever consider doing, or at least one of the very few. The amount of detail that is covered is next level and that is the reason why I ended up getting sucked into the following the progress. Stripping things apart is easy, the rebuilding of it not so much. However, I can tell over number of videos now, that these guys have got absolutely fed up with working on the plane. These things take knowledge, time, skill and money to put things back together and it shouldn't go under appreciated. It sucks to watch a video which doesn't show content on just the 401 but restoration of other other aircraft or automotive I have absolutely zero interest in and just end up skipping. I'm tempted to just stop watching content for a period of time and come back to just binge watch the 401 content after another year or so.

Tail space - there are "terror triggers" and getting stuck in a small place is one of them. I first noticed it when I was working in a huge church - way up in the roof lowering the lights to replace the bulbs - I was by myself so likely just doing a check - but I had to go under these big steel beams on my stomach at that point almost, and I moved my leg to go forward and it locked in the bent shape and I was so wedged I could not move. It was like only a couple minutes but I felt that panic building fast and luckily I could suddenly move enough to get back to my stomach.

Great segment, Jason really put himself into this one. Everything is really looking good, finding and fixing wrong instillation. Replacing frozen pulleys all in that confining tail section. Then taking and putting all in on the Austin exhaust system with Joe. Great work guys! I love the red too. Give me the Austin.

I want the Austin.. Even if you don't find a hood emblem. I am looking forward to how the 401 interior turns out. Glad you've reverted the elevator stuff to factory spec for safety.
