Hi Craig, can you make a video on review sites like Book Bite and whether getting reviews on such sites runs the risk of flouting Amazon's rules on getting reviews.

Hey Elsie, I've never done a video on that topic because I've never been able to find a definitive answer as to whether or not those sites abide with Amazon's guidelines. Putting your book on to one of those sites shouldn't be seen as being any different than giving your book to a public library. And people can review your book on Amazon after reading it at a library, they just won't be verified purchasers. The question comes in when you take the subscription fee of Bookbite in to account. Because that is a book review site to which you're paying to use, then it can be said that you're paying for reviews, even though you're not paying people directly to review your book. It's tricky. I think Amazon would recommend that you offer your book through their free book promotion program, and then that you promote that free book on your social media or through Amazon ads. This way there is no money changing hands for the review in any way. You could also send free copies of your book to KZbin channels that review books, doing it that way you're also not paying for a review. @CraigBabin The free book promo is for ebooks. What about the low content books and medium content ones like coloring books and word search books? They're paperbacks and can't be offered as ARCs which would require an ebook format.

@@elsiezsh I don't think you can enter coloring books to Book Bite either, that site is for text based books (high content), so that other authors can read your books. I think all of the book entries have to be digital or audio books, no physical books. I'm not aware of any site like that that does take physical books to review. I didn't realize that you were referring to coloring books in your comment. Your post inspired me to create a video on this subject, showing all of the different ways to get your books in front of people. I have a drawing video coming out next week, and then the video on this topic will come out after that one.

Hello Craig, could you please make an explanatory video about how to upload the same book but in different covers - soft cover and hard cover, in the same Amazon KDP listing? I couldn't find a tutorial for this anywhere. I would really appreciate it, thank you very much. Your videos are very good and clear by the way. :)

It's not actually that difficult, but you have to upload your paperback first. Once it's uploaded and available on Amazon, go to your bookshelf, find the book that you just uploaded and then click the "+ Create Hardcover" button below the publishing date. Once inside, review the information that you entered for your paperback book. You're going to have to add a new ISBN (because hardcovers and paperbacks have separate ISBN's), and then upload your reformatted interior PDF as well as your reformatted cover PDF files. You have to reformat them because the specifications for hardcover are not the same as paperback. Once you have all of that done, choose a new selling price and submit it, the same way you did with your paperback.

I use the images from creative fabrica . Any problem to use creative fabrica for publishing in kdp.

No. As long as you're following CF Terms of Use as well as KDP Guidelines then you should be fine. But when you choose an image, look to see if it was created using AI, the seller should list that in the description. If it was, then you have to declare that in the KDP book up loader.

Hi Craig, thanks for a great video. Do you know what the rules are for using an ai generated graphic from creative fabrica? They have an AI category but I dont think that everyone who uploads their AI images put them in that category. So it's impossible to tell sometimes. Plus, there isn't an option on the kdp site to declare if I got it from somewhere, it only asks if "I" generated it from an AI program.

If the seller declares that the image is AI generated, then you have to declare it on KDP. As for sellers who don't declare their AI art, new upcoming laws will soon deal with them, and they will more than likely have their seller's accounts terminated on sites like Creative Fabrica. AI image generators will soon have to digitally tag every image generated by their software, so AI users won't be able to hide the fact that the image is AI generated. You don't want to mess with these new AI laws that are coming.

Thanks, I stay away from the images on CF that have been declared as AI, but some images that are in other categories look like they could possibly be AI generated but I have no idea if they are and have used them on a few of my book covers. If they are AI generated and the creator doesn't declare it and I've used them believing they are not AI generated... well... I just hope amazon doesn't permanently terminate my kdp account, do you think they would? Not sure what to do. Do you have any suggestions?@@CraigBabin

You would no longer have a KDP account and they would let you know that your account was terminated. And I'm not sure if you can start a KDP account under a company name, you may be able to.

So images for book covers and anything from Book Bolt are not considered AI. Correct?

Images created using AI are considered AI, whether for the cover or interior. but anything created using the Book Bolt puzzle generator or elements from the Book Bolt Studio are not considered AI.

I use AI to make my book covers, does this mean I can no longer use AI for my cover designs? If so I'll just have to stop making books cause that's the only way I know how to make a nice design.

You can still use AI, you just have to let KDP know that you used AI when you upload your book.

I'd say if they close every ones account down for using AI, the book category is going to look like a ghost town cause a lot of book creators use AI, so their just hurting there self. Why are they closing peoples accounts over AI?

Actually, the vast majority of books don't use AI. Sellers really only started using AI over the past few years. So about 95% of the books on Amazon don't involve AI. They're not closing anyone's accounts down yet, they're just preparing themselves so that when AI legislation does eventually get passed, they can avoid any unwanted lawsuits.

If you're referring to AI, it depends on how you use it. It can be used in a way that doesn't remove the human creativity or talent requirement from the art. Unfortunately that's not how most people are using it today. Most people are using it like an artwork vending machine. As long as you have a $1 to insert, you can be an artist.
