Paul's description of the end of the age in 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 has confused many readers. The apostle wrote, “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power” (verse 24). He later added, “And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all" (verse 28). Taken at face value, Paul seems to imply not only a distinction between the Father and the Son, but also a subordinate role for the Son.
Dr. David K. Bernard reviews what the Bible says about the sonship of Jesus Christ and explains how Paul's description of the end of the age fits within that framework.

Thank you brother David. When I have studied and prayed to God to open my eyes on this verse, I took a deep dive into the meaning of the word "person". A person in modern times, is defined by his spirit and not by his body (tent, mask, ecetera ). It is his spirit that carries his name, even after death. The SPIRIT carries the name Jesus (Yahshua ( Yahweh Savior)) While on earth, the name Jesus ( Yahshua ) presents two spirits: his human "spirit" and the "SPIRIT", our God. Human nature and devine Nature) A small number of people have relised that he is God, while being on earth, the majority have seen him only as a man. I pray that God will open the eyes of more people. There is room in the oneness understanding of the Bible for them. God bless

PSALM 110:4 The LORD has sworn and WILL NOT CHANGE His mind, You (Jesus) are a Priest FOREVER (G165) after the order of Melchizedek . New Testament writers affirm HEBREWS 7:17 For He (YAHWEH) testified, thou art a Priest FOREVER( G165) after the order of Melchisedek. All that God is resides in the Body of Jesus. Acts 20:28 (NKJV) 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. God is Spirit. How does a Spirit have blood? There is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. So God produced a human body to be sacrificed for the payment of sin for all. Well over 300 times the singular pronoun is used when speaking of God. The Greek Τριάδα is translated trinity. Not once is it used by the Apostles, nor of the OT writers. The OT is clear that ONE God was taught, then after the Apostles died He changed His mind? Who was pierced? Zechariah 14:9 (NKJV) 9 And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be- “The LORD is one,” And His name one. John 20:26-28 (KJV) 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Repeating from someone else, but this makes sense: Here’s where the issue comes in, are we creating two distinct natures within Jesus? Are we making Jesus two persons? This is an old Heresy called Nestorianism. Nestorius (AD 386-451) was Archbishop of l Constantinople. According to Nestorians, Christ essentially exists as two persons sharing one body. His divine and human nature are completely distinct and separate. The orthodox position is that of the Hypostatic Union, which states that Christ is fully God and fully man in one indivisible person. God the Son, Jesus Christ, took on a human nature yet remained fully God at the same time. Nestorius said that the humanity of Jesus must be emphasized, His nature firmly divided, and that He was compromised of “Two natures and two persons.” The human nature and person were born of Mary. The divine were of God.

He even admits that it sounds far fetched. If God is in THE SON then that’s SOMEONE IN SOMEONE ELSE. Basic English. The Father, The Son and Holy Spirit is ONE NAME… ONE GOD. They are in communion. 1. Is the word trinity in the Bible? No. 2. Does the Bible say that there are three persons in the Godhead? No. 3. Does the Bible speak of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? Yes. 4. Do these titles as used in Matthew 28:19 mean that there are three separate and distinct persons in the Godhead? No, they refer to three offices, roles, or relationship to humanity. 5. Does the Bible use the word three in reference to God? Only one verse in the entire Bible does so-I John 5:7. It speaks of the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. This is speaking of testifying not the Godhead. You have Father (God) His Word (God) John 1:1 Greek translation: In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and God was the word. God’s word is not a second person. λόγος logos; from 3004; something said (including the thought); by implication, a topic (subject of discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive. Then Holy Spirit, God is Spirit, and His Spirit is Holy. “These three are one." It doesn’t say three persons. 6. Does the Bible use the word one in reference to God? Yes, many times. For example, see Zechariah 14:9; Malachi 2:10; Matthew 23:9; Mark 12:29, 32; John 8:41; 10:30; Romans 3:30; I Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; I Timothy 2:5; James 2:19. 7. Can the mystery of the Godhead be understood? Yes. Romans 1:20; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16. 8. Has the Christian only one Heavenly Father? Yes. Matthew 23:9. 9. Then why did Jesus say to Philip, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father" (John 14:9)? Because Jesus is the express image of God's person. Hebrews 1:3. The Greek word for person in this verse literally means "substance." 10. Does the Bible say that there are two persons in the Godhead? No. 11. Does the Bible say that all the Godhead is revealed in one person? Yes, in Jesus Christ. II Corinthians 4:4; Colossians 1:19; 2:9; Hebrews 1:3. 12. Is the mystery of the Deity hidden from some people? Yes. Luke 10:21-22. 13. Who is the Father? The Father is the one God, particularly as revealed in parental relationship to humanity. Deuteronomy 32:6; Malachi 2:10. 14. Where was God the Father while Jesus was on earth? The Father was in Christ. John 14:10; II Corinthians 5:19. He was also in heaven, for God is omnipresent. 15. Did the prophet Isaiah say that Jesus would be the Father? Yes. Isaiah 9:6; 63:16. 16. When God said, "Let us make man in our image" (Genesis 1:26), was He speaking to another person in the Godhead? No. Isaiah 44:24; Malachi 2:10. 17. How many of God's qualities were in Christ? All. Colossians 2:9. 18. How may we see the God who sent Jesus into the world? By seeing Jesus. Isaiah 45:18; Ephesians 4:5. 31. Does the Bible say that Christ is the Lord? Yes. Luke 2:11. 32. Does the Bible say that the Lord is God? Yes. I kings 18:39; Zechariah 14:5; Acts 2:39; Revelation 19:1. 33. How could the church belong to Jesus (Matthew 16:18) and yet be the church of God (I Corinthians 10:32)? Because Jesus is God in the flesh. 34. Will God give His glory to another? No. Isaiah 42:8. 35. Was there a God formed before the Lord, or will there be one formed after? No. Isaiah 43:10. 36. Job 9:8 42. Why, then, was Jesus able to walk upon the Sea of Galilee (Matthew 14:25)? Because He is God the Creator. Colossians 1:16. 43. Is God the only one who can forgive sin? Yes. Isiah 43:25; Mark 2:7. 44. Why, then, could Jesus forgive sin in Mark 2:5-11? Because He is God the Savior. 45. Is Jesus the true God? Yes. I John 5:20. 46. If God and the Holy Ghost are two separate persons, which was the Father of Christ? Matthew 1:20 says that the Holy Ghost was the Father, while Romans 15:6, II Corinthians 11:31, and Ephesians 1:3 say that God was the Father. There is no contradiction when we realize that God the Father and the Holy Ghost are one and the same Spirit. Matthew 10:20; Ephesians 4:4; I Corinthians 3:16. 47. When Paul asked the Lord who He was, what was the answer? "I am Jesus." Acts 9:5. 48. When Stephen was dying, did he call God Jesus? Yes. Acts 7:59. 49. Did Thomas ever call Jesus God? Yes. John 20:28. 50. How could Jesus be the Savior, when God the Father said in Isaiah 43:11, "Beside me there is no Savior?" Because "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself." II Corinthians 5:19. 51. Does the Bible say that Jesus was God with us? Yes. Matthew 1:23. 52. Did Jesus ever say, "I and my Father are one?" Yes. John 10:30. 53. Can it be proved scripturally that Jesus and the Father are one in the same sense that husband and wife are one? No. The Godhead was never compared to the relationship of a husband and wife. Jesus identified Himself with the Father in a way that husband and wife cannot be identified with each other. John 14:9-11. 54. Does the Bible say that there is only one wise God? Yes. Jude 25. 55. Does the Bible call the Holy Ghost a second or third person in the Godhead? No. The Holy Ghost is the one Spirit of God, the one God Himself at work in our lives. John 4:24; I Corinthians 3:16-17; 6:19; 12:13. 56. Can Trinitarians show that three divine persons were present when Jesus was baptized by John? Absolutely not. The one, omnipresent God used three simultaneous manifestations. Only one divine person was present--Jesus Christ the Lord. 57. Then what were the other two of whom Trinitarians speak? One was a voice from heaven; the other was the Spirit of God descending like a dove. Matthew 3:16-17. 58. What did the voice say at Jesus' baptism? "Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Mark 1:11. As the Son of God, Jesus was the one God incarnate. 59. Does the Bible say that God shed His blood and that God laid down His life for us? Yes. Acts 20:28; I John 3:16. God was able to do this because He had taken upon Himself a human body. 60. The Bible says that God is coming back with all his saints (Zechariah 14:5) and also that Jesus is coming back with all his saints (I Thessalonians 3:13). Are two coming back? No. Only one is coming back--our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13.

We are sons of God because Jesus is the son of God who identified with us and became us. We are sons of God everlastingly, therefore Jesus must be the son of God everlastingly. If the son's everlastingness ceases, we cease to be sons also. And if we cease to be sons, we cease to be the children of God, Christians. How can we say, also, that the one unique son ceases to be a son while the adopted sons continue everlastingly? This doesn't jive.

Oneness presents problems such the Father then Sent Himself to earth and died on the cross for our sins and is speaking to Himself always. Yet the Son is Another Witness in John 8 and the Holy Spirit is Another Advocate in John 14-16. Though the Word and Spirit with Father in Genesis 1 Creating looks as though Word and Spirit are impersonal speaking and acting, the New Testament more reveals the Son and Holy Spirit as Personal God in United Personalities in One God.

As for now there are 2 center of conscience? As Jesus remits the kingdom to the hands of the Father there will be one only center of conscience ?

It is not a role switch. ‭1 Corinthians 15:24 ESV‬ [24] Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. It seems that Pastor Bernard is saying that God as the Son will one day switch to the Father role ("which He had before the incarnation). The fact is that the verse says he [Christ] delivers the Kingdom to God the Father. If Christ here has to be understood as the Messiah, (and this person is the Father incarnate), who is He delivering the kingdoms to? Saying the human Messiah delivering the kingdom to God does not solve Oneness theology's problem. If God is in the Messiah (Christ), who is He delivering and subjecting Himself to? Pastor Bernard dismisses the trinitarian implication by saying that if this verse implies Father-Son distinction, it would imply that the Son is inferior to the Father but trinitarians affirm the coequality of the Godhead. No... Trinitarians affirm the Son subjects Himself to the Father and His Will (as Jesus often prays when in the flesh)....BY THE WAY, HE ISN'T PRAYING TO HIMSELF. The equality of the Godhead means they are of the same nature...one nature. Scripture doesn't teach the Son is inferior to the Father, but it clearly teaches that the Son submits himself to the Father... the whole fact that Jesus came to die is because the Son does the will of the Father. ‭Romans 5:10 [10] For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

These Oneness defense points cause arguments, and maybe disruptions in one's faith. They create an 'us versus them" atmosphere. Is this from a lack of humility? If God chooses to fill a believer with His precious Holy Spirit, whether in a Oneness or Trinitarian assembly, WHO is the judge that provokes believers with questionings and doubtful disputations? 1John 4:11-16 - "Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." Trinitarians do not believe in three gods. They do not see 3 thrones in heaven. Oneness groups need to stop proliferating this. A sincere believer accepts what scripture teaches. If there are seemingly contradictions about the Godhead, we are the ones who are contradicted, not God, and He is not the author of confusion, so if there are unknowns, we should accept what is written; and leave those margins of uncertainty to God, who is the only One who will reveal himself. Aren't we all given different measures of faith? Why start a new denomination and divide believers on who has a smaller or larger measure of faith? Who are those who judge and condemn the trinitarian teachings? For me personally, I read and understand the gospel to teach One God in three persons, and there are millions who do. We can all agree: "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him." (1John 5:1) "Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God. This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one". (1John 5:5-7)

This is a Oneness Channel. Who is doing the invading? Trinitarians believe in three separate persons as God, and no matter how you say it, it is not ONE God. Truth matters. I was changed by God coming into my home and touching me. and taking 17 years of drug addiction away. He has lead me through His word, and taught me His Truth. And that truth through out the Bible is ONE God manifesting Himself in many way, and always has. Now you can make your own truth if you want, but does truth matter? Does truth come from man's thinking and opinion? Who leads you away from truth by saying "Did God Really Say?" You are going with the masses, and even many of the masses are not convinced of the trinity. I know many trinitarians that explains God just like Oneness.

All my life I have struggled with this because I was trying to hold on to Denominations and Theology ....I found that many denomination "Explain" away this verse because they don't like what it says. I believe this is the greatest mistake of all of humanity. We assume that we have to be able to explain all things in order to say that we are Saved by his Blood and we don't. We have to allow scripture to say what it says ...even if it reveals something that interfers with our Denominational and theological beliefs taught by men. Unless God's word explains it differently, then whatever man says is a lie.

Quick question for you brother Bernard regarding one of the apostolic fathers Ignatius, a contemporary of Polycarp, and a doctrinal statement refuting heretical doctrines. Ignatius to the tralleans, chapter VI "Some of them say that the Son is a mere man, and that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are but the same person, and that the creation is the work of God, not by Christ, but by some other strange power." Could this be interpreted as Ignatius trying to refute oneness?

I believe those who are searching these questions will find the truth of the Godhead, if it is God's will for us to know explicitly. Does the UPCI trust the Holy Ghost, who indwells each believer? I believe we should be extremely cautious and be persuaded in our own minds on the questions of the Godhead, as He wills us to see it, and not men's opinions. 2John:9 "Whoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. In my simple mind, "he hath both the Father and the Son" says there is the Father and the Son. And I am at peace with that. Not everyone needs to drive themselves in pretzels trying to figure it out. Not everyone has the time, energy or brainpower to think like a super-scholar.

WRONG! Straw man argument here. He says (2:56) "...you would have to conclude that the son is clearly inferior to the Father..." NO! We don't conclude that. Jesus humbled Himself. READ Philipians 2:6-11 (KJV) "...he made himself of no reputation..."

Being a son doesn't not inherently mean "humble servant" ESPECIALLY when referring to God. (10:16-10:22) This man also says "He(Jesus) will no longer act as the son who died." That's not correct.

Problem 1 - Dr Bernard mentions classical trinitsrianism - however does not correctly state how the Incarnation of Christ is viewed. The Incarnate Christ is Fully God and Fully Man… not lesser or inferior or Jehovah Junior… Problem 2 - Oneness Pentecostals reject the all Church Councils, often citing the Doctrine of the Trinity as ‘man made’… technically, all doctrine and principle teachings are man made… to include what the Apostles taught… being men… Problem 3 - The 7 Councils establish the teachings of the Church… specifically answering ‘Who is Jesus Christ’? The specific councils that Dr Bernard mentions established Christian normative teachings… addressing the errs of Ayrians, who Dr Bernard correctly identifies in his commentary… along with other doctrines viewed as inconsistent with Apostolic teachings. Problem 4 - The 5th Century Council had a focus on what Books should be included in the Holy Tradition of Scripture. Versification of Scripture is much later - like the 15th Century. Most systematic theology and soteriology methods used in modernity and here in this podcast would have been foreign ideas to the Early Christian peoples. Problem 5 - Salvation is Created when the Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin. Classical Trinitarianism recognizes Logos in John 1, whereas Oneness Pentecostals seem to miss Christ-God before his Incarnation. Problem 6 - Historically, the Church has long understood in her Wisdom - precisely who her Bridegroom is and her connectedness to the Life Giving Trinity. In Dr Bernard’s teaching here is really a swag - of the age to come. We really don’t know definitively how things will be in that great and glorious and endless Day. But assuming temporary flesh sounds along like demi-god… the Church the Son as begotten - not created… of One Essence with the Father… how things that invisible and visible were created… etc. Holy God. Holy Mighty. Holy Immortal have mercy on us. Eternal and Immortal Word of God. But, rather than error as Rome and her Children - I recognize the limitation of my human mind in understanding of the Godhead…. And leave things as a Mystery. Problem 7 - What are the checks and balances Dr Bernard use in his teachings - to validate his suppositions and doctrines? The Church Councils - the Church Fathers - other Christians through the past 2000 years? Probably none - most Oneness Pentecostals do not view folks that don’t look and act and believe like them as inferior humans who are abased… and reject these peoples’ experiences and belief in Christ-God as completely and utterly FALSE. You know, the market’s been covered and the corner is theirs. So, with that understanding of the Oneness Folks Culture (whether expressed or hushed)… Here’s the problem. If God fearing people, like those in the JW camp can get things mixed up in their exegesis of the Holy Tradition… how do you validate things asserted as Biblical Truths. All Protestant camps are also false…. But the majority of things taught in the UPCI are picked and chosen from these camps to formulate the teachings of the Organization. But, no external validation of one’s position is examined and folks say of the Bible, things it does not say. Be very sure.

That passage doesn't prove that the Son is inferior to the Father; there must be more understanding and if we don't understand it, we should just say, I don't understand it yet, instead of claiming an opinion as fact. But when Satan tempted Jesus, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread". Why wouldn't Satan just say "if thou be God Almighty?" He acknowledged 'the Son of God'. Jesus referred to his Father in heaven many times: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" (Matt 5:48) Not every one that saith unto me, 'Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven" (Matt 7:21) What about, "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven" But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven", (Matt10:32-33) And at that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and has revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father; and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." (matt 11:25-27) "No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, bceause he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God." (1John 4:12-15). Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him". (1John 5:1) This verse is firm in that it tells us to believe in and love the begetter and the begotten. If the Son of God was just the flesh and God Allmighty's Spirit, as Oneness teachers teach, why would this verse confirm there are two that we should love and believe in, the begetter and the begotten. It reasons that loving the two would mean there are literally two to love.

@@wjdyr6261 Read John 1:1-18. It was the Word of God who took on flesh. John 1:1-2 says He was in the beginning with the Father, John 1:14 says the Word took on flesh, not the Father (referred to as God in verse 1-2), and John 1:18 says that no one has ever seen God (the Father), but that the only Son has made Him known. Just read the entire gospel of John. Jesus goes through extreme lengths to describe that He as the Son has come from the Father and never hints at the idea that He is the Father. If you want a literal statement where Jesus states that He is one person and His Father is another person, John 8:16-18 says, “Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me”. Jesus would not be able to truthfully say this if He as the Son, was not a different person than the Father. Like I said, please just read Jesus’ words and all of the times He repeatedly stated that the Father sent Him, that He loves the Father, that He always does what’s pleasing to the Father, that He glorifies the Father and the Father glorifies Him, that He is the only one who has ever seen the Father, the list goes on and on and on. I hope and pray that you come to understand the love that the Father has for His beloved Son and the love which Jesus the Son has for His Father. You completely rob God of His eternal love and glory if you deny the persons of the triune God who have eternally existed in fellowship with each other.
