yeah i don't think there will be a second one. in terms of there being four new characters, i think peachette will be chosen via toadette, funky via dk, then diddy and pauline fill the remaining two spots. otherwise they'd have to alter the layout of the character select.

Mario kart 9 would be weird, makes me wonder what they would make the gimmick of it.

I would love to see flying added to it. Not like how gliding works, but proper flight.

I know a drill mechanic was scrapped from Mario Kart 8 in favour of anti-gravity. Imagine if there were some shortcuts where you could break part of walls (marked with cracks), similar to the Friend Circle and Friend Train from Kirby Star Allies. This could just be implemented into the already-existing Dash Mushroom, but I think the better option would be a brand new drill item, which when used, a drill would appear in front of the player's vehicle, giving them a temporary speed boost allowing access to these exclusive shortcuts, but won't protect players from getting hit from behind, making it not entirely superior to the Super Star. Expanding on this idea, special ramps could also be added on the main track, acting like either a dash ramp or a glide ramp but would provide a much greater boost and the ability to break walls much like the drill item.

There’s still half a chance, but I’m guessing people just want to move on. I would love more tracks, characters, karts and battle maps, but I guess we’ve gotten too much. At the very least I hope we get DK Mountain.
