What i love most about this channel and the creator is that he sticks with his diagnosis. He doesn't just run to, "Put a new motor in it" like so many other channels do. I want the original motor left in my minivan. Trying to find the problem and pushing forward is the honorable thing to do. It's the right thing to do for the van. Switching out motors might be the quick fix but you don't learn anything from it and the van doesn't have the original motor it came with from the factory. To me that's important.

We had a 92 that looked exactly like this, even the red pinstripes. Dealer wanted to give $2k trade-in, while they had worse ones on the lot for $9k, took it home and it lived in the garage. Sat for years and probably needed similar work.

A Chrysler 3.3 liter V6 typically uses a MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor) rather than a MAF sensor (Mass Airflow sensor). Explanation: Most Chrysler engines of this size generally utilize a MAP sensor to measure air intake pressure and determine the appropriate fuel injection amount. Key points to remember: MAP sensor function: Measures the pressure in the intake manifold to calculate air intake. MAF sensor function: Directly measures the amount of air entering the engine by measuring the air flow. Thanks to AI, I couldn’t have said it any better. Great result, I admire your patience and willingness to learn and find solutions.

Nice to see the voyager finally running, Weird how the check engine light does not come on with the bad MAP sensor, but only when it is unplugged. Kinda dumb design there. Those internet forums are so useful for strange issues like that, it is quite sad how they have been abandoned in many cases for crappy propriety stuff like reddit and discord making it much harder to find things. Anyway can't wait to see the next video! I am curious about how the interior will turn out.

Yup , that will do it. sometimes even a bad temperature sensor can cause a vehicle not to start or weird issues.. same goes for the MAF .. but that van runs off of the MAP .. hopefully the engine sounds better with some use and possibly MMO to clean the lifters

@slonskilandscape3292 Күн бұрын
I’ll be interested to see if that lifter quiets down. You’re good at saving these engines and the 3.8 does tend to be virtually indestructible. My two cents is I would go ahead and address that as soon as possible if the ticking doesn’t quiet down soon, it would be better than wearing a flat spot on the camshaft. Seems like you’re on the right track with this thing, if you get that lifter addressed you’ve got a good running van. You really don’t see these 2nd gen’s much anymore at all, even her in CA where there is no rust. I have a 95 T and C, it took me years to find one like that. Good to see someone saving these before they’re all gone. Once the vans get destroyed they aren’t coming back.

If Chrysler was as thorough as you are they wouldn't be circling the toilet financially lol, I have nowhere near the level of patience you have. I'd have rolled it off a cliff long before I did all that haha. My geo prizm sent me on a similar wild goose chase recently, of course it was the cheapest part (that I replaced last) that finally did the trick. On a side note (and hopefully not offensive one because I mean NO disrespect by asking this) have you been diagnosed with high-functioning autism? I ask that because I have it and I see so much of myself watching you work, the level of detail you go into and your explanations are fantastic and I notice many people as mechanically inclined as you are on the spectrum, they make great engineers and problem solvers.
