To save you double work next time instead of just pushing the stuff out the door. Put a tarp down on the ground and then sweep or push the stuff on to the tarp. Then all you have to do is drag the tarp with everything on it down to where you want to leave it. Or down the mountain. Much easier. Work smarter not harder.

Jaylena, you might try to use the sawsall sideways where the nails are located. Where you removed the OSB you have all those nails on the studs. Your sawsall should bend a bit to go down the studs to cut all those nails. You shouldn't need to work as hard as you are. Make the tool work for you. Proud of your determination! Great job

Thought about this agree with the theory, but you need a metal blade to cut the nails. Metal cutting blades are normally only 4". That will put a huge amount of stress on the bent blade and might break ALOT. I fully agree with the thinking but don't see it working in the long run unless many blades are on hand. $$$$$$

My dad used his sawsall all the time. I really don't remember him going through a lot of broken blades. I myself love my sawsall. It is a great tool. Don't force it but let the tool do the work for you. Buy a few extra blades. It is better than it wearing you out. Work smarter not harder. Just take your time. It shouldn't be bending that much on those studs that are further apart. You have taken the OSB off the middle section already. Best of luck.

If you decide to remove the OSB from the studs, an easy way to do it is to get a Demo blade for your sawsall. It cuts both wood and metal. Just slide it behind the OSB and it will cut through the nails like butter. The rest of the OSB will be off the wall in minutes. Nice job so far.

For the remaining which what I meant originally but guess I didn’t explain and I should have. Get a metal blade and cut between the stud and osb. The blade should be thin enough to get behind the remaining osb. You might have to pull a little to get the blade behind but it should be minimal. The metal blade will just slice thru that nail and you will be done with it. Great job and I know this is the tough part but you are doing it and that is all that matters. Most would have given up. Also where you rain into the issue over the window - most windows and doors have a header to provide strength to where that opening has caused a break in the support.

I personally would take the strips off mostly due to when nailing up the new sheet rock, you won’t have to worry about where to screw in as there are existing nails from the OSP. Plus, some areas have the OSP already off, so easier to hang the drywall/ or siding if that is how you go

Looks great. Two things concerning leaving the strips of OSB attached to the studs: 1) where you’ve already taken it off of the wall surfaces you’ll need to put it back to put your walls back on the same plane. 2) it may cause some issues later as you begin to trim out door and window casings. Window openings and door openings will be 11/16” to 5/8” thicker than standard walls with 2x4 or 2x6 studs.

Nice job! Let the reciprocating saw finish the work by cutting through the nails, between the particle board and the face of each stud. The rest of the particle board will just fall off. In fact there were probably some instances where you could have just cut through the nails without doing the little cutouts in the middle to make it even easier with less effort. 👍🏼🩷💛💜🩵💙💚🧡❤️

Yes you should definitely have headers and cripples above all doors and windows. One window had a header above it but no cripples. A cripple is a shorter piece of 2x4 between the top of the header and the bottom of the top plate. The cripples should be the same distance apart as the rest of your walls, be it 16" on center or 24" on center. The other thing this will help with is when putting up sheet rock/drywall above the windows/doors that you will have something solid to screw your sheet rock/drywall to. Plus it with give more strength to hold up your top plate in that span of distance on either side of the windows and doors. Otherwise, through the years your top plate may start sagging. Also, regarding the rest of your OSB on the studs, take your sawsall and at a 45 degree angle put your blade between the OSB and the stud and cut through those nails. It would be so much quicker and easier to get rid of that problem. If you try to put OSB over the top of what's left then you will need to put OSB trim up on the studs that you have already taken that part off of. Otherwise your walls in that area would turn out crooked to the rest of the walls. Good luck and hope this helped.

I suggest that you remove the strips of osb that are still on the studs and pull the nails. Yes, it may take a couple more days and more work, but it will contribute to having a better end product. Good preparation allows for a satisfying finished product. I would use a hammer, which you have, with a cold chisel to break the strips into small lengths which can then be knocked away from the nails fairly easily. Then use a pair of fence pliers, which you may need on the property for other uses, to pull the nails. There are other tools such as Crescent Company's puller which are very good. There is a Vice Grip plier intended for removing bolts that has a rounded end and can also be used to good advantage in pulling nails and fence staples. I have used all these and can personally attest that they work well.

I agree with a lot of the others that the OSB needs to go, be gone completely. Get a metal cutting blade for the Sawsall and cut the nails by going between the OSB and Studs. You will probably have to hammer in the nails a little, but it will be so much better to do it right. Also, a concern I would have if you left it on is the window and door trim, it would have to be brought out to the extra thickness. I think if you leave it you will continue to run into issues with it. You kicked butt and got so much done! I forgot but Paul, mentioned the window header, we put extra vertical studs under all our windows when we replaced them. If you need to put a window unit AC or fan in the window later on, you know it is good and solid.

As much as it will be a pain I would have to say to remove the rest of the sheets on on the beams Because once you put plasterboard back up or that chipboard it’s will put a wave in the wood or crack the plasterboard Also when cleaning up does your little red cart fit up tp the step that you were cleaning up to It be easier on ya back if it does

YOU did it!!! You absolutely ROCK! Such grit and determination! You can definitely be proud, and your demeanor when you got done showed as much. It will be annoying, but I vote to remove the remaining osb -- get a clean slate for your new walls. Also you should add bracing ( more studs) where there is currently none on the headers above the windows and door. Loved your musical score too! Stay well. Cheers!...from North Vancouver

I would remove left over strips to have less chance of hitting old nails when replacing wall coverings. Just use a short metal blade on your saw saw. Run between 2x4’s and OSB. Victory is just around the corner ❤

The only issue that I can think of for putting fresh OSB on top of the old stuff is hitting a nail while trying to attach it. We call OSB plywood in the UK i personally would use a multi tool and cut the remaining osb into small pieces (while on the studs) then use the claw of the hammer to prize the small bits off. Its so much easier than trying to prize a huge bit off. Lots of love from Scotland ❤

If you have a different blade for cutting metal i would turn the saw parallel to the wall and cut the remaining osb and nails. That would be faster than adding strips

Yay Jaylena! You finally got over that awful hump!! Great job and perseverance! I would be tempted to just leave that OSB on the studs and drywall over it. You may have to fir out the spots on the studs that don't have the OSB on it to even it out. The biggest issue will be avoiding screwing into all those dang nails! It will save so much time and frustration and you'll only lose about an inch of interior space from each wall.

I agree with Judy Herman. Make a choice: cut all that OSB off and the nails, or put up OSB on the studs where it was removed. I’d personally do the easiest way, just put up missing OSB. Excellent work!

You may hit nails when installing the new osb but it makes sense to do it that way. You can also buy the other type of blades for that tool you used today to cut the metal screws (get a few) and they will go through them pretty easily…

I have one of those man toys. Why didn't I think of using that? I used mine on my kitchen remodel. This house was built in the mid 70's and the wood was real back them. A lot stronger than now. I use mine to cut trees and bushes too. Well done and great job! That is going to make the cutest little cabin. A window in front by those double doors would be neat.

Your gloves will work well if you buy the small packets of “hot hands”. Shake the packets t9 activate them Slide the packets in the gloves on the back of your hands! The packets warm the backs of your hands which warms the blood in your veins which warm your fingers. I’m almost 66 years old and just found this method of being comfortable in cold weather just a few years ago. You can teach an old dog new tricks!

If you leave the strips up it may sit your windows back too far but you could make a window box around the windows to sit stuff in? It is doable to just go on now with what you have going on now. It looks really good wish I could come help you with clean up I would in a heartbeat beat. Good Job!!

Please take care of yourself while doing this project. I had suggested in a previous video to lay tarps down in the shed while tearing down parts in there that way when all the pieces fall on the tarp then all you have to do is carry out the tarp and empty it into trash can instead of having to sweep it all up or pick it all up by hand. This will help you Work smarter not harder. Less bending over, less strain on your legs, less chances to cut up your hands, less chanced for allergens to get in your face.

Just an opinion, but i would remove the window and put in dual pane low e glass windows that can be bought at lowes or hd. You may need to reframe window studs. Also that woulbe a good time to put in a jack stud the supports the header and keeps weight off the window.

Wow can't believe how much you got 👍👍👍👍 great job! The only concern I would have is when you go to put up the plywood over your insulation you might end up hitting the nail heads and not getting a good hit if you use a nail gun. Please be careful if you leave all those nails behind. Otherwise a terrific job so far.👍👍👍👍👍
