This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. kzbin.infoUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.

@Hugh-Jorgan

@@Aaron86vrubi sucks. I have a 49" tz. It's a terrible bumpy cut that requires a diamond file to clean up and straighten. Needless to say I don't use it. I use my 14" 24" montolit's, my 36" 61" sigma's. That 49" gets used only if I need a 36-49" cutter and my 36" sigma is on another job. Personally I prefer push but they even screwed that up with the whole click up to drop the snapper then click twice to retract it crap and the tape measure isn't accurate either. Then I have to stop and think everytime I cut do I add a sixteenth or subtract a sixteenth which side is the waste on. It's a garbage cutter. Their cheaper cutters are better than their high end cutters. Sigma and montolit are so similar and cut so much smoother that I'd use either before I take out that rubi.

Probably for this reason It seems that Sigma is copying many Montolit Masterpiuma features on their new models. Your commend is very strange my friend. @@brouwerificationI would argue that. Professional tool implies it can take a beating and last for years. My 49" tz broke on second job. The locking mechanism that you pull to change the angle of cut fell apart. I rigged it so it sits square. It's collecting dust now because it's not quick to use. Clicking the handle to drop the breaker and clicking to retract. It's not fast like the montolit and sigma. Production slows. Durability and speed are key components to "professional" tools. It's priced like professional but doesn't perform like professional.

Question…. What is the best lubricant to use for the rail that the cutter slides on. I’ve had mine for a few years and it’s not that smooth anymore.

If you watch any demonstration videos from Montolit, you will see that this is not necessary, unless you need more leverage like thin strips or mosaic. One of the features of their handle, they say, is that you are immediately in snapping position after scoring. Stay Crazy!!

Rubi has some great cutters, they made the first tile cutter in 1951. They are a Spanish company out of Rubi Spain . if they are now manufacturing in China it must be fairly recent. Every cutter from the Ts series up to the tz series are great. I'm not sure about there cheaper cutters from home depot.

That's funny. Nothing comes close? Not even close? Montolit and sigma are so similar in design except sig is a pull and Mont is a push. They literally cut almost exactly the same. I don't think anyone could tell the difference in one cut from the other. To me they are both super close. Comes down to preference on push or pull.

This cutter is flawed… if you have a tile that is a couple of mm out and need to see both marks you’ve pencilled… you can’t see 🤷‍♂️ You need to be able to see the scoring wheel, and you cant. I ordered one as a tiler of 20 years, it doesn’t work in the real world… sent it back
