When I first started with structured data cabling I used a small (toy) crossbow with a fishing reel attached for working above suspended ceilings when it wasn't possibly to clear the desks below for easy access. It worked brilliantly and saved so much time. It especially came in handy for vertical runs where access from the top was limited. Should be an Olympic sport.

The Cablecaster is useful in Certain Situations like Fishing on Bosses time without carrying a rod n reel. It is multipurpose.

Between the big airducts, the thick sewage and drainages pipes of the floors and roof above, the hot and cold water pipes, the vents servicing the rooms, the rods holding up the dropped ceiling and everything else up there, I expect the dart to end up anywhere but close to where I need it. Here in the Netherlands we always have 4 meter long 16 or 19mm PVC pipe on hand, I'll keep using that.

They’re great for a particular application 😂

They may think wiring regulations don’t apply but premature collapses regs are just waiting to spank anyone who just throws data over the top of ceiling tiles

Ain’t that what all the data guys do 🤷♂️😂

This actually can be useful in a couple of situations. Too often have I tied something heavy to cable to throw it. Or thrown coiled up cable across just so I didn't have to keep moving a ladder 5ft at a time.

As an alternative, Rack-A-Tiers does the LaserLine which is a modified paintball gun that can shoot much further using CO2 cans. It's situational, and more expensive than this Nerf gun with a cheap fishing reel on it but the range is significantly higher. We've recommended it as a rental fleet tool for distributors, but if you're regularly doing this it is worth it and can pay for itself quickly as you don't need to keep moving the lift or building and tearing down scaffolding. Otherwise... it's fun to shoot.

For the price tag tag it has, I recommend buying a nerf gun and some fishing line. Way cheaper to buy extra darts kkkkk After having some trouble with above ceiling wiring, I bought a tiny 4x4 toy car and attaced a camera and a metal plate. I can drive over almost anything and i just need to hook a magnet to the line to get it back to wherever I want. Simple, cheap, and you can have some fun if you have the time kkk

OMG we used to use a crossbow to fire a ballpoint pen with attached fishing wire back in the early 90s. 😂😂😂

The Local plod will be checking the muzzle velocity of that nerf gun. 🔫

Wouldnt a crossbow give you more certainty of reach the target?😂

How about a ramrod that telescopes? If you have the room for a ladder you have the room for a tool 2m long collapsed and maybe 5m extended.

Now tell me how you are going to adequately support the cable throughout its entire length!…I’m waiting. Same as I’m waiting for the follow up on the new build site with solar kit in the external meter box
@efixx8 ай бұрын
You’ll have to remind us which site with the external solar in a meter box?
@posei39608 ай бұрын
@@efixx there was a site ( Nottingham?) all new builds. They had fitted the EV ( thought solar but was wrong ) isolator. Someone pointed it out as not being allowed. I thought you were doing a follow up on how they got around it/sorted it out. I think it was site wide but it was a while ago and I’ve been in and out of hospital,so may be wrong/missed it
