Why does everyone always act like Will’s voice is annoying or bad? Honestly it’s one of the main reasons why I like their music so much. Maybe it’s just me, but every time I hear it I feel like I’m being wrapped in a warm blanket or something, idk. It has so much charm, it fits their sound perfectly imo. Anyway, great video!

yeah honestly i had never heard that before even tho im a big csh fan. i was surprised i think will has one of the best voices i've ever heard, has a real genuine quality to it
@joaoassumpcao33473 жыл бұрын
I think it's because of how... honest it is. Will doesn't have much of what people would call "talent" for singing. His delivery, filled with the emotional lyrics about himself and his thoughts, are what sell the songs, but his voice is far from the conventional "pretty singer voice"
@TheArcticKitten3 жыл бұрын
@@joaoassumpcao3347 yeah i guess but i wouldn't sayh it's just the content of his lyrics that drive it I think he really does have a talented voice, whatever that means.

I like how honest and up front it is. It also just goes to show that you don't need to be a technically good singer to sing. If anything, he's inspiring anyone with a voice to sing which I respect.

An aficionate musician here, car seat headrest is one of the greatest influences i have right now, you see, i'm just a stupid kid that plays guitar and sings whatever its in its mind being unable to sing "right", i used to be ashemed of this, but will was in exactly the same situation i am, despite that, he achieved it, he became a rockstar and he constantly become better and better at his writting, i know it's imposible to me to become minimally relevant, but he and car seat headrest shows me that it's not about being the best or having the most complicated structures, you only need passion and feeling to write something to be proud of, good vid btw

Teens of Denial came out when I was 22, 5 years to the day after a traumatic event (one of the top 3 in my life) and I was immediately hooked. Will is a year older than I, so we have had a lot of parallels with growing up. The authenticity he has with his depression, sadness, and self-hatred is so spot on.
@cheesyfudge3 жыл бұрын
Never really tell stories on here, but 12:05 kinda reminded me of one. I remember back when Teens of Style was first released, I had the pleasure of seeing CSHR play in Toronto around 2015 or so. I'd been a fan for a little while at that point, (I remember I emailed him sometime in 2012 to ask if he had any t-shirts left in stock. I don't think he did, but still offered to hand paint a Twin Fantasy one which I very happily accepted.) and was super excited to see him on a label like Matador, even more so that I finally could see CSHR live in the flesh. After the show, I was both anxious and excited to try and meet Will himself, and saw that he was hanging out by the merch table at the time. I shook his hand, had one of those typical fan moments where I mentioned early music, I was wearing the shirt and all that, probably a bit awkward haha. Though the biggest highlight during our relatively short conversation, was when I must of asked what was coming next for the band. He actually mentioned to me that he was considering revisiting/rerecording Twin Fantasy, which I got instantly really excited for. Felt like I had a little inside scoop for a bit, and was actually surprised when Teens of Denial came out before the Twin Fantasy remake. In hindsight, I suppose it wasn't too much of a secret that he considered his early music as sort of demos, especially given his philosophy on art that's never completed, but it still felt like a cool moment for me. He seemed like a person of few words at the time, but still approachable and humble. Anyway, still wear that hand made shirt to this day!

hey idk if you did know this or not but will started releasing in 2008 under the name 'nervous young men' when he was like 15ish. he only released 4 albums during this 2008-2010 period but its where a bunch of songs like boxing day were originally written. will also pulled lyrics from this era too in his new music, such as the line 'im not gonna end up a nervous wreck...' in famous prophets (stars) is from a song during this time. if you did know then oops sorry for wasting time, i thought maybe it was a little relevant, but idk edit: really good video btw!

I really enjoyed the album when it came out and the singles before it, but it was music i was sharing with my significant other at the time who tl;dr was a bad person and it left the entire album filled with stings of bad nostalgia. which sucked because it was especially my favorite tracks and it’s all because my mind associates them with my times with him.
