I would Defenetly get the Corolla Hatchback Hybrid. It's better looking than the Regular Sedan Corolla.

The fact that the hatchback never got the hybrid system is still surprising to me. It definitely would have been some extra money for Toyota.

They have been selling Hybrid hatches (and wagons) in Japan and Europe for years but they can't be bothered to bring them here.

I did think about it. All of it. It is Toyota's commitment to the system that gave me the confidence to pledge $425.98 every month to TFS for 60 straight. Just a Camry SE. But we like it.

I suppose that I could just turn the radio up. I have a CVT in my current 2018 Honda CR-V and I’m not in love with it. I’ve never cared for the feeling that you are attached to a rubber band when you change from reverse to drive or vice versa. It is smooth shifting in forward gears but the droning noise is tiring. I am interested in the Crown Signia. I heard that it doesn’t have the latest and greatest hybrid system. That’s too bad. Thanks for the input.

In Toyota's eCVT, the engine and drive shaft are directly connected by parallel shaft gears in the medium and high speed range. From standstill (0 mph) to low speed range (20 mph?), the amount of current to the motor is controlled for stepless acceleration. The transition from motor (low speed) to engine (medium/high speed) is seamless using planetary gears in a differential gear-like mechanism. When the accelerator pedal is eased and the speed decreases, the motor becomes a generator and regenerative braking is used to decelerate the vehicle and charge the battery at the same time.

Marcello, I want a Signia Hybrid LE with 18" rims and cloth interior and one of the Corolla Touring Hybrid wagons sold in Europe and Japan. 🤩🤩

@@JamaicanMeCrazy Yes, I would like to see the boxier Corolla Fielder sold here with some of the more advanced Hybrid powertrains offered in the Corolla Touring wagon. Of course, a GR Fielder with the drivetrain from the GR Corolla hatch would be welcome as well. Finally, let's not forget Toyota's wonderful ProBox. 😃

Toyota is selling Corolla Hatchback in 1.8 Hybrid/CVT combo in other countries. There is not much demand for hatchback in NA.

I think they might go fully hybrid, but I think it should not be a long term goal. Because Hybrid are in huge demand now, but there will be push back to full gasoline models . Eventually people will want gasoline engines again, this should not be long term plan. Already their is massive demand for v8, and v6

I can see the benefits of buying a hybrid and Lord knows Toyota knows how to build a reliable one, but I don’t really care for them. I certainly would prefer it over a straight electric vehicle but I don’t like the noise that they make when I hear them slowly go by. I would assume that I would hear the droning noise inside the car at low speed. I also don’t care for how they change from electric to gas mode when starting out. Granted I haven’t driven a hybrid vehicle in several years and hopefully improvements have been made on the jerkiness that I experienced while driving the 2005 Prius that we had in our rental fleet when I was working. Any comments anyone?
@daxx10
@daxx10 Ай бұрын
For anyone who doesn't know, the droning noise comes from a loudspeaker (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_vehicle_warning_sounds) and is a legal requirement in many countries. No jerkiness. A lot of people are put off automatic CVT drivetrains and I still see comments from those would never go near one but Toyota's eCVT should have been given a different name; it's totally smooth. You'd need special equipment to detect "gear changes".

is the hybrid a good choice if you drive less than 7,000 miles a year?
@shawj
@shawj Ай бұрын
At that low of annual mileage you likely won't make the money back in fuel savings, but you do get better driving experience so it's a wash. With long wait times for hybrids though you might want to choose gas purely due to availability.

I can't remember all the arguments but I bought a Yaris Cross hybrid (UK) knowing that I was very low mileage (less than 4000 a year). Due to circumstances, I've been doing less than 1000 a year and I can only think of one issue ... the 12v battery tends to go flat ;) It's easy enough to charge up with a connector in the fusebox and any metal ground point; that's how they do it with showroom vehicles. As with non-hybrids, other issues apply such as sticking brakes but I doubt whether that would be a problem with your usage. I love the hybrid technology so much that I don't particularly need to take it for unnecessary trips to get pleasure from it :)

@rightlanehog3151 Ай бұрын
Toyota's traditional Hybrid cars have proven to be the most efficient and reliable cars they sell. At 7,000 miles per year, you would be better off with the Hybrid. The only scenario where the Hybrid is the poorer option comes when people regularly leave a car in storage for many months at a time.

My mechanic told me that toyota rav4 2026 will be exclusively hybrid and I hope by 2027 to be getting a Toyota rav4 hybrid. But he also warned me that it's gonna come with a cost of $37000 by then. He warned me the toyota sienna will be starting at like 47k which I will not be spending that much on a vehicle.
