i think putting vat on private school fees won't necessarily produce enough money to make a significant impact to all the state schools across the country, i think this move will result in small adjustments in the state school sector but will mean that middle class families that can just about afford private school fees at the moment will have to withdraw their child from the private school sector which is such a shame.

So we now need lots more private school pupils, otherwise no pay rise or extra teachers in state schools? Seems rather counterintuitive. The sector that despised them in the past are now relying on them.....🤔

Vat should not be on any education. No idea why private schools were singled out….nurseries and universities still remain exempt. The proposed cash grab will generate 6500 new teachers or one third of a teacher per state school 😮. Consider the extra burden on state schools from new pupils the extra money is inconsequential.

It’s a shame that the government is imposing a tax on education which is fundamentally beneficial to the economy , private or state. There are many other industries that contribute to inequity, that perhaps should be focused on first - for example land ownership or property development/housing wealth. Rather than taking from one sector of the education industry and providing to the other, arguably reducing the quality of education in certain areas, the government could possible look to source its revenue from other industries to externally inject into state schools. After all, education feeds the vast majority of industries and high standard of living in this country.

but they are looking at recovering costs from all industries... such as farmland inheritance tax on property

I can absorb the extra 3k my son’s school is asking for, but a friend of mine has 3 kids there 😮 that’s another £9k AFTER INCOME TAX he has to find🤑🤑

I think its the right thing to do and will benefit many with extra taxes raised. I'm sure some parents will grumble but they'll be able to afford it.

NO! It’ll force more kids into local schools which are already chocked up with immigrants. And you know there is a serious problem when the person moaning (me) is black! 😂
