I've been praying for Drew's parents, my cousins, a dear friend, and everyone down there so badly effected by the hurricane. We originally thought it was going to slam into us in Spring Hill and were so relieved when it didn't. But we felt mortified for everyone in Ian's path. We would be down there helping out, too, but I've been housebound and recliner/bedbound for over 8 years now. ME/CFS plus Long-Covid is no joke. I am grateful to be alive and am hopeful the researchers will get enough funds to develop medications, treatments, and cures while I am still alive (turning 68 next month). I only found you on here a couple of weeks ago. I love your adventures as a couple! I will be living an active life in my mind thru watching you! Thank you for that!

When you build.a well in Portugal with cement like the one you showed on the new property why on earth wouldn’t you build in some rebar steps from the water up the side of the cement wall to the hatch opening in case someone did fall in. I will never understand the thinking that would not have an escape out of a well. Just like I don’t understand why in France and Spain and Portugal they don’t have a shed or covering for the cars from the Sun! When the sun damages the car interior and the paint over time and cars are a MAJOR expense! I don’t get it! Also are you guys checking for fire prone areas when you are searching for properties. I would think you would not want to live in an area like that. I did notice that on the Indie Project their home was protected from the fire by the slate roof and the major cleared area around the house with area for parking and outdoor kitchen. It helped protect the home. But water and electricity and fencing was destroyed. So will you put electricity, water well underground to protect from fires and will you use something fireproof for fencing? Just thinking ahead!

I just want u to be aware when u get older people have a harder time walking upstairs and downstairs. I bought a condo in CA 33 years ago and I have health problems now. I can no longer walk upstairs and downstairs so I bought a stairlift. I never predicted that this would happen when I bought this place. If I had to do buy this property all over again I would have bought a one story property. I’m just trying to inform you what can go wrong so u may not make the same mistake.

BTW, I wanted to let you know that my husband and I just spent 5 days in Naxos, Greece after watching your episode and absolutely fell in love with it. We even went down to Mikra Vigli to watch the kite surfers. It was such a windy day. Drew would have loved it. OK I have concerns. Firstly, the drought is not going to get better, it’s going to get worse. And, secondly, Fort Meyers, should be an omen or warning of how investments can be lost. I’d hate to see you invest in a country which is considered one of the most fragile as far as climate change is concerned. Do as you think is right; but at least consider my warning. Maybe, I’m just being a 75 year old mama bear - but, you two are so young and cute. Are there any “climate havens” that you can look at? Best wishes to you both.

Hey guys just an observation and I think it's a common mistake by people learning portuguese. I notice ypu use alot of the Brazilian pronunciations and not the portuguese, they are quite different

Yes, it’s true. My step-mom is from Brazil and my dad and twin half-brothers lived there for 8 years. Drew and I visited them during that time and so we learned Portuguese the Brazilian way. It will take time but we’ll get it right ☺️🤓
