I loved the symbolism here. Eve is basically Callisto reborn, so Callisto gets a mother back to replace the one that Xena took from her, and Xena gets a child to replace Solan who Callisto helped kill. Perfect redemption all around.

I have seen the Gods make mortals disintegrate in a blast of fire without actually hitting them with a fireball or energy blast, they can change mortals into any creature, even an inanimate object, can use telekinesis to move objects and people, but rarely, if ever, uses any of those powers against Xena. They could even take her ability to fight away, disappear before she could attack them, whatever, and they never do this. They could summon weapons out of her hands, but never does so. They could change her into an ant, or make or too small to be able to hurt anyone. Still....they just chose to fight her. The Gods could take her strength away as well. The Gods are not only super strong, but also super fast, endless stamina, great reaction time, more athletic than any Human, and yet still has problems with Xena? If i was a God.....Xena wouldnt be able to beat me, because i already have the fastest hands in the world as a mortal, lol, unofficially, but its been measured (of course....i wouldnt actually fight her as a God, because we would be on the same team, but still....she wouldnt be able to beat me).

The worst and most shameless case of literal deus ex machina I've ever seen. The whole Eve storyline ruined most of season 5 for me and turned Xena into a huge hypocrite imo. Also: "Who's my girl?l who's my girl? YOU are!" 😂😂😂💀

For me it was the opposite. This storyline was the season's only attempt at a bigger story arch and most of the season was utter garbage due to Lucy's pregnancy and inability to do action scenes. This storyline did destroy Ares for me since he genuinely tried to kill Xena. The love/hate tension between them was gone.

@@xenondoro8573 I respect your opinion even though I don't agree with it. I agree though that this storyline did a huge disservice to Ares...at first. And Ares being my favorite Xena character is one of my reasons for disliking this storyline. But I think he more than made up for it in "Motherhood" when he sacrificed everything (family, status, powers, godhood, immortality and by extension kind of his life) to save Xena. And tbh, I'm not sure if he would have let Eve kill Xena, I think he was hoping the opposite happened which would be killing 2 birds with one stone: getting rid of the Eve threat and Xena going dark again by killing her own daughter. I also think his speech was a good explanation for the way he acted: "How does it feel Xena? Knowing the woman you love despises you? Trying to reach her but knowing at the end *it* *will* *either* *be* *her* *or* *you* ." Sorry for the long response , I love discussing Xena, lol

@Lee Brown lol, I don't know how that is relevant. It's literally deus ex machina, and deus ex machina is always lazy writing. It made Xena into a hypocrite because of the way she refused to kill Livia yet forced G to kill hope with little regards for her feelings and also her attitude toward Livia's victims. She even says it to Gabrielle after Joxer's death: "I just didn't think it would be a friend" which is really gross as if other Livia's victims were worthless. Also chill, I said it's my opinion, you can have a different one if you want.
